Which games made you freak out?

Doom is still mean.
Thief is simply the best FPS-Sneaker ever.
System Shock 2 was good, too. Especially when you didn't have the firepower needed.

I loved that mission. Hell, I loved Freespace 2, and yes, that dive call really freaked me out the first time, and then when I played it again I forgot and it freaked me out again. What a great mission though. Dual Keyser barrels ripping things up =

Yea freespace2 is awesome...I think I might play it again when I get home The game actually has two endings, one if you make it, the other if you don't. Only, like, one sentence of the last cutscene changes though. One of my favorite games of all time.

And yes, that dive call freaked me out. First time you ever had to do somthing right at the beginning of the mission and not start flying towards stuff
I also really enjoyed the mission where you could go through the nebula trying to find a lost ship, flying blind and dumb with the emp lightning things scrambling your hud. That mission reeked of atmosphere

Too bad there probably is never going to be a freespace3. Volition aprarantly wants to do one, but they got sold to THQ a while back and interplay is sitting on the rights fo the freespace series.. Die interplay, die!

Quake, I can't count the number of times a screamed during this game ( especially those big polar bear like creatures - Yikes! )

Eternal Darkness was also creepier, but not quite scarier.

Doom is the classic. It was the first FPS I ever played IIRC so it made it all the more frightening. Plus I was like 13 at the time.

when i was little, like 9-10 years old, the Zerg from starcraft scared the hell out of me...

When I was a wee tike, the boss at the end of the Wolfenstein demo just about gave me a heart attack.

Doom.

Some special Skaarj fights in Unreal kept me on my toes, as did a few parts of Half-Life.

But for overall consistent freak factor, the original Alien vs. Predator is it.

How about the last level of Spear of Destiny when you have to fight satan?

System Shock 2. I remember I was playing it once (at 2 am of course, with all the lights out) and I came across some weird egg things. I shot a couple, and all of a sudden this she-cyborg mother thing came tearing out of an alcove at me screaming at the top of its longs... Jesus christ I've never jumped like that before!
