Which gaming laptop to buy?

Hi all. Can you all help me decide/advice which brand and series of gaming laptop i should buy? I need something that is overall good performance (fast loading, low fan noise and heating) gaming laptop. I will also use it for occasional document works.

My budget is between 1000 ~1400$. I have looked around and GIGABYTE P55 / P35 series & ASUS RoG G751JT or G751JY looks very good regards to design and specs.

So i hope you guys understand what i mean and hope to hear you guru's advice soon.

But i find gaming laptop asus very cheap and great deal on budget it has 3d surround sound and great performance.

My tip is this: if you can find a gaming laptop at HALF it's current market price, then you should buy it if you want mobility.

BUT, if you don't want mobility, you should NOT buy it, even if it's at half the price.
Get yourself a cheap ATX tower and start buying the parts and assembling them yourself. It's way cheaper, way better quality, way better longevity, way better upgradability, and probably way better comfort.

For 1000USD you can buy yourself a bitching gaming computer right now, and with the rest of the budget you can get the monitor, keyboard, mouse and headphones easy.

Of course, if you need mobility, go for the laptop at half the price.

A true gaming laptop is not a laptop... its called a Desktop Replacement, aka DTR.

These are big compared to laptops, and very costly.
1400 dollars would be just the price in the options these DTR's come with, thats how costly it is.

Other then that, with your set budget, id get the fastest GPU your laptop can offer, however there is also a issue with portability / battery life when you factor that in.

Personally i use a Lenovo Y70.
It not meant to be a primary gaming machine, but it does have a 960M 4GB which is fairly decient for low/mid range gfx settings.
(again... this is not ideal in a gaming machine, as the gpu card to me is still underpowered to enjoy games in full bling bling graphics glory.)

If i want a true HD / bling bling graphics, i'll just go on my desktop which has 980's in SLI.

I bought a 15 inch "gaming" laptop for $600.00 a year ago. It has 840M graphics and Intel 4210U cpu with 8 gigs of ram.

It plays the game called Heroes and Generals well enough at a solid 40fps but at low resolution.

Funny thing is that I never replaced my desktop for my 23 inch IPS ASUS monitor. Yes, I have a beautiful monitor but no desktop computer for it.

The thing is that I love the portability and ease of my laptop. I play games in bed on my laptop and its comfortable as hell.

The only thing I can think of is connecting my laptop to my 23 inch monitor through a HDMI cable.

The best way to think of it is this: you can buy a laptop with the hope of playing some games on the side, but you generally don't buy a laptop for playing games.

It's really a question of the return on investment. You can pour $1,400 into a gaming laptop that will be so-so for a couple of years... or you can drop as much or less on a desktop that will both last longer and do a better job. I'd only really buy a gaming laptop if I was either wealthy (and could drop tons of money to get a truly fast system) or had a specific use case, like a lack of usable space or frequent game parties with friends. If it's just so that you can play Witcher 3 in the living room instead of the den? Pass!

If your mobility needs are limited, build a small computer that can be moved around easily on occasion.

I find myself in possibly a similar situation. I'm looking at buying a games machine. I currently live in Nepal, so want something I can bring between the UK and there quite easily. Size (both weight and volume) is as limiting as movement. I don't have a monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers yet but am wondering whether its cheaper/easier to go for an ultra small form factor desktop machine or get a desktop replacement laptop. I've budgeted about £1000 for it.

May I ask what was the biggest regret over the gaming laptop, depreciation, upgradability, or something else entirely?

He probably bought the first one, mid range spec, basically a Macbook clone. The new ones zeem much better though. I think they're rolling 980Ms (desktop gtx 970).

I think the Aftershock laptops are pretty worth for the price..

Personally my dream gaming laptop would be an Aorus x3 plus v3, but it is way over my budget.

it's not just a matter of ooomph, but useability.

OP, in case you don't get it, i say NO to a "gaming laptop".

laptops are battery powered. they are fragile. they heat faster.

their internal components are more expensive, and harder to maintain.

buying a gaming laptop is like buying a racing truck. the two things can exist, but were not meant to be together.

i would humbly suggest you build yourself a home system, desktop, and then get some handheld device to store data during the day, then sync to your main in the evening.

like .. a cheap non-gaming laptop.
