I use some very old Sony's that I bought at Target for around $20. They seem to have good bass and reliable sound reproduction. I'm not that particular on headphones since I have 5.1 THX certified audio for the desktop. No headphones needed.

Sennheiser makes some good shit though and would look there.

I just have a pair of the Kinnivo BTH-220's. I've used these for the past 3 years or so... I paid $25 for them. I like them because they're Bluetooth, have awesome battery life, are cheap, fold up, decent sound quality, and are behind the head.

The only things I don't like is the blinking blue LED light on the side and that they make me look like Princess Leia.

Anyway, I'd absolutely buy another pair of Sennheisers whenever my 280s die or cease to exist.
Unless you often have acid baths to dunk things into, or leave your headphones in the driveway, good luck with that.

Just get the upgrade itch one day, and give in to it .

I have a differently branded pair of those, I like them a lot for listening to music while doing chores and stuff without having a wire in the way.

if you're not in a hurry, I'd wait for the hd600/650's to go on sale again. They were ~225/275 a few months back.

At home: HD580s, going over 10 years now and don't see them stopping any time soon.

On the go: Shure SE 215s, still on my first cable, and I can replace it!

so i got my AD900x ..

reference to the max; an exercise in flat response. very comfortable, won't cook your ears. don't expect a punching bass, that's not what reference headphones do.

for music, i'd probably chose something fuller. but for mixing or for gaming, they are perfect.

i like to test mine with this:

On my computer I use Sennheiser HD595s bought in September 2007. Gotten my money's worth for them several times over.

Beyond that I use either Sennheiser OMX 180s or OnePlus One silver bullet earphones depending on the situation.

In the house, Etymotic ER4S. In the gym or using portables, Etymotic ER4P. I never use on-the-ear headphones anymore.

Ditto. Although I find my phone drives the ER4S just fine for most songs (HTC One). Gotta love that Ety sublime detail.

The noise isolation got me through years of rooming with fratboys that were noisy all through the night.

Anyone know of headphones that go over the ear, that have separate volume controls for left and right channels? I am mostly deaf in one ear. Otherwise I would probably only go no more than $50 for a set of headphones.

I'm tempted to pickup a pair of Massdrop AKG K553 Pros.
Cheap (~$115) and supposed to improve upon the K550 Pros (better bass, less shrill highs)

Right now I'm using my frankenstein W5000s. I've been trying to decide if I want to bother making real cups for them and rewiring them, or maybe transplant them into some more portable headphone (I was at one point hoping to score a fake ESW9 for cheap and put them in and then do new cups and things). I switched from KSC-75s to my old Phonak PFE112s at work so that I could hear things more (its a fairly quite office and the 75's leak a lot of sound). Have been debating on getting some Shure 535s. Even tossed around the idea of trying the Astell and Kern universal version of the JH Angie (or maybe Roxanne, not the one that is over $2K). Also thought about the portable Stax, as I kinda liked the previous version. My interest in going through a bunch of gear has waned a lot though. Wish I had the money to splurge on some JH-13s to see how good they really are. Might see about buying someone's customs and getting them remolded, but I don't know.

Plus I need to find a new source/amp. Thought about trying the Creative E5 since I could use it with my phone at work and traveling and computer at home. There's several other DAC/amps that offer that worth considering as well.

I like my Sennheiser 598's for home use.

Anybody have a recommendation for some good bluetooth headphones, or maybe earbuds? something that I can exercise with! are beats worth the money?

You can't adjust the balance on your source device? I always thought that's what it was for.
