Which is a better graphic card manufacturer : BFG, XFX ?

I've always found that XFX video cards are lower quality compared to BFG although my last Nvidia video card was a 6600 GT so maybe things have changed.

I'd rather go with BFG, but that's because I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and they're a local company.

XFX are faster with better coolers but I'd still rather go for BFG cause they seem to have better support and reliability.

XFX coolers are strong and their OC cards are usually the fastest, but their PCB's and stock coolers are rather flimsy.

BFG has a more solid feel to it. That being said, I usually go for EVGA and avoid both companies altogether.

I rather feel like EVGA has the best of both worlds, combined with the Step-Up program and competitive prices.

I owned an XFX 7800GT, a BFG 7600GT and an EVGA 7900GS. My next high-range purchase (Later this summer) will be EVGA no doubt in my mind. Plus EVGA still honors your warranty and Step Up program even if you over-clock OR replace the stock HSF on the video-card.

Bought an XFX 6800GT about a week or two after they launched, never had a problem with it, I believe that they have a "double lifetime warranty" as well, not sure if it is lifetime of product or you and the person you sell it to. I believe the BFG has a lifetime as well (again not sure if it is you or the product cycle), but it has been a while since I researched nvidia AIB makers, so their warranty policies could have changed.

BFG's warranty is for as long as the card is around.

I have had to RMA a BFG card. Their support was outstanding - took care of the problem and sent me a brand new card with absolutely no hassle. That convinced me to stick with BFG for my next card purchase.

BFG has better RMA & tech support, but XFX offers higher clocked cards with a warranty thats transferable to the second owner if you sell it so its a close call betwwen them.

EVGA gets the edge over both IMO because their warranty allows both overclocking & replacing the factory HS/fan provided you don't do any physical damage to the card.

BFG cards are well made, but so are EVGA's & once its installed in your case it won't matter much anyway, plus if you cook a BFG from overclocking it your warranty is technically void while with EVGA you're covered. In addition EVGA offers advanced-ship RMA for a small fee so you can get a replacement card shipped the same day you contact support for an RMA & finally they have the "Step-up" program which allows you to trade in your card for a higher model within 90 days of purchase at full value if you want to upgrade.

Just make sure you register on EVGA.com within 30 days of making your purchase so you are garanteed a lifetime warranty & you'll have the option to register for advanced RMA at that time as well.

Those are actually very nice benefits.

I used to sell computer hardware and XFX video cards had the higher RMA rate compared to BFG.

bfg, evga, xfx all use the same pcb and components.

other than some specialized heatsinks you'll find now and then (in general they all stick with the reference hsf, and the 'special' coolers tend to be more gimmick/marketing than performance oriented).

used to be that xfx tended to o/c their cards more, but evga and bfg (with their new oc2 series) generally match their clockspeeds.

what differentiates them is the color scheme, amount of overclock, price, warranty policies, and the quality of the warrantly & support, and sometimes the bundle (my evga came with a might and magic game and my bfg came with a t-shirt.)

bfg, evga, and xfx all offer 'true' lifetime warranties (xfx has a 'double lifetime' meaning the warranty is applicable to the second owner).

evga specifically states overclocking or changing the heatsink does not void the warranty (as long as all original parts are entact for rma). they also offer a 90-day 'step-up' program the others don't.

overall bfg and evga have a better reputation for service/support than xfx, but you'll find good and bad things said about any of them...

personally i've had very good support/service from bfg. and while i've had their hardware, i have not had personal exp. with either evga or xfx service/support (tho i received my evga rebate in about 3 weeks, which is really fast).

In terms of quality, I'd just choose whichever was cheaper. If they were priced the same, I'd go with BFG cause they're American (as far as I know). <I'm waiting for the "Made in the USA. No thank you."> Also, my current card is BFG, and it seems like they generally have a better reputation. To me, XFX comes from the same batch of Asia based marketeers as Asus (i.e. piss poor service).

i agree that the hardware is the same usually. That guy hit the nail right on the head.

I say evga because of the OC/modable policy, steup up prog, and the most importantly, they are cheaper!

I bought a used EVGA and for support,... they basically told me to take a hike.

I am looking to replace with used BFG.. will they support and help me if I have problems, buying second hand or.. will they, like evga tell me tough if I run into any trouble?

i just recently had to rma a 2 year old 6800GT in one of my pc's. they didn't even ask for proof of purchase or ownership. they just gave me an rma # and replaced it.
