The Duron 800 is about the same speed as the P3-750 but may be a bit slower in certain programs although in FPU performance, it outperforms the P3-750. Basically, they're about equal, the consideration however is the Duron 800 is MUCH cheaper than the P3-750. If you already have a Socket A mobo, there's no reason to go to Intel. If However your starting from scratch, then you're more on level ground since the motherboards will about even the cost. The decision is really up to you. Both are more than powerful enough for Windows stuff. For games, the Duron would probably do a bit better, but up to about 1024, it's all Video card held back. The Celeron 800 however will not perform up to par w/ the Duron nor the P3-750. It is more office oriented since it half the cache as the P3 Cumine, and has a slower cache (somehting like 4 way in stead of 8 way cache that the P3 Cumines have.) If you're looking for an extremely budget box. You would get a Celeron 800 w/ a mobo that has everything on board. This would also serve great as a general pc use however gaming would be severely hampered. For a Gaming machine, you would probably get the Duron and a high quality video card. The Pentium 3 generally wouldn't be chosen unless you have more faith in Intel. Buying the Pentium 3 would be more for the name than for the value. Then again, they're about the same in terms of performance. SO in the end, it's what YOU want. The performance between the P3 Cumine 750 and the Duron 800 are about the same in everything except gaming where the Durong would do a bit better because of FPU. If you dont plan on playing graphic intensive games, (stuff like Q3, UT), than you would go for the Celeron since it would be cheaper, perform adequately in windows. But for gaming, you might want to stay away from it.
