Which is stronger, a balrog or dragon?

Melkor made many creatures that were more powerful than Maiar. For instance: the wolf that killed Huan. Sauron could not defeat Huan, and Sauron was, arguably, the most powerful of the Maia.

Based on extensive research (ie I played nethack for a while) the balrog would pick its teeth with the bones of any dragon that got close enough.
From LOTR, Smaug terrorized a village and ate some dwarves before being killed by an archer with one arrow. A Balrog emptied the Mines of Moriah before eventually falling to the sacrifice of the most powerful wizard of the Third Age of Mankind.

seriously though, one of my friends is a huge fan of LOTR and D&D and stuff and he tells me balrogs are on of, if not the best character in the LOTR world.

Um, the claw on one hand mask wearer was vega and he was in spain or italy...

btw vega, m bison and balrog all got there names changed around for the american release of street fighter 2. m. bison is really suppose to be the name of the black boxer but mike tyson was about to sue capcom so they changed the boxers name to balrog for the american release.
