You've heard the accusations made on both sides... the U.S. is a warmongering, imperialistic hyperpower only interested in Iraq's oil. And France is a schemeing weasel country full of cheese-eating surrender monkeys cowering in fear and looking to appease Saddam. Which accusation would upset you more to be applied to you?

France is in it for the oil too. Heck, everyone is in it for the oil. Everyone. Of course oil isn't the only reason, but its a major reason - for everyone. That being said, since everyones in it for the oil we may as well not appease a brutal dictator.

Iraq doesn't have very much oil compared to most mideast nations. It was for that very reason Iraq tried to invade kuwait. If we want more oil we should invade canada. They have way more oil and they would be much easier to take over.

By keeping Saddam in power, you have just guaranteed the death of many people in Iraq. Saddam has, by some estimates, already killed more than million of his own people.

I don't really care what the US's ulterior motives are, I think the side effects of a new regime in Iraq will be positive over all. Yes, it's unfortunate that there will be a war and many will die, but the average Iraqi citizen will no longer be under Saddam's bootheel.
