Which Linux OS?

Okay, I'm offended now. Really

I just downloaded Slackware 8.0 and I'm waiting for my new burner to arrive so that I can install it on my second rig. It'll be kinda refreshing to configure the system without lots of little tools to assist you. >>



I have Slack 8 installed on one machine now and its great. Im only going to try out Debian so I can use apt-get and whatnot and not have to worry about so many friggin dependancies >>

But dependancies are cool =)

Only when Im trying to figure out how to use software, not when Im trying to figure out how to install it

If this machine was 100% server Id go ahead and use slack because most of the server applications I would be using would not have to deal with dependancies as much. But since its 30% server 30% desktop and 40% *oops what the hell did I just do?*, Ill try Debian

Slackware 8.0 All the way. I have used redhat, mandrake, etc. etc.

Slackware is by far the best so far.

BTW i have had less dependancy issues with slackware than either redat or mandrake

I'd just like to say that since reading this thread I'll probably have to give a few of the distros a shot just to see what's up.. but I'll tell you this much so far, I'm really enjoying Red Hat, every day I get more accustom to it and so far I'm liking more than I even do Windows.. I think Windows might only boot up for gaming from now on..
