I'm looking for one of the new Motherboards. I want DDR (at least up to 1GB). Be able to hold the fastest AMDs and very stable. I'm leaning towards next weeks ASUS A7N266 (I love my current ASUS board and the intergrated appeals to me). What do you guys recommend?

AMDPwred, why not try the new shuttle? Its cheap, 4 dimm slots, and performance reviews were excellent. Good for the bang for the buck. However ur looking for stability, who really know how stable something is until a couple of weeks right? So going for the asus right off the bat might not be a great thing either.

I'm with crayola: get the Shuttle AK31 Rev. 3. It's so cheap you can buy two and send me one as a gift!

Hi!

I'm leaning towards the A7V266-E mobo - I've been very pleased with ASUS mobo performance in the past and am currently running on a P5A board (Yes, I'v been very patient!). My advice is - wait until the board has been out and tested by the users before you buy - regardless of which mobo you end up buying... One question though - I'm not familiar with the ASUS A7N266 ? what?s the specs on this board - KT266a or?

The A7N266 is the ASUS nForce board due out on the 25th. Could you guys tell me more about the A7V266-E? I haven't been around hardware for awhile

I think it's actually A7V266-A, and it's the KT266A version of the original A7V266. IMO it's way over priced at $177 when Shuttle AK31A and EPoX 8KHA+ and avialable for half the price, and just as solid.

Ouch, that's too much for me. I've been told the A7N266 will be around $120 (for the 220-D) and $150 (for the 440-D). Don't forget you get GF2 MX quaility video, 5.1 Dolby sound, and a LAN card built in for those prices. Pretty hard to beat if you ask me.

I don't think you can totally wrong with an Asus board. However, they do tend to be very pricy, for me anyway. Now, do you currently have an NIC, decent video card and so forth? Paying a few bucks for the A7N-266 might be worth it if you are building a new system, otherwise I'd go with the Epox 8KHA+ for sure. Just read the reviews.

I have a nice sound card and NIC. But my V5 is going to start aging in the next few months. But I don't really think the GF2 MX is an upgrade from a V5. Hell, I think of it as a downgrade. I'd loved my ASUS board since day one and paying a little more for this kind of quaility doesn't bother me much. I think I will get the A7N266. I'm just not 100% sure yet.

Hi AMDPwred

Here are the specs for the A7V266-E board, I haven's seen any reviews of the board yet, and as indicated, I won't be buying anything before it's been properly tested/reviewed. I think patience is the key factor, and I'm willing to wait for the ASUS results before deciding.

Regarding the nforce boards I'm a bit sceptic - I think there's a saying: "Don't buy ver. 1.0 - you'll live to regret it". Maybe a bit over the top, but let's see the reviews after the boards have been released...

Wait, did I miss something, I thought the original A7N was going to be 420-D only? I hope I'm wrong.
