which motorola modem best for comcast

I am going to buy a new modem for my comcast network.. As I mention before..my vista network disconnect sometimes during high speed download..
I am not sure if the modem has problem..but I just do want to rent a modem any more

So, IF I wanna buy a motorola..which model is best for comcast? 5120 5100 5001?

Comcast is starting to roll out docsis 3 if you plan or wanted to take advantage of the higher speed tiers then you should see when they plan to do so in your area. This way you don't have to buy another modem when the come. As for your current question I'd go with the 5120 modem. I used it until I switched all my services over to comcast and they brought the arris.

so, if I buy the motorola 5120
when the comcast upgrade their servie
does the modem still work for me?

Yes it will still work it might even receive higher speeds. You don't need to upgrade the modem when they change their service but if you did want docsis 3 then you would.

I donot know so much about docsis 3...so..just take it easy..buy a new modem..thanks

What modem do you have in place? I had a dlink DCM-202 modem on comcast and it wasn't pulling the registered speeds that I should have been getting. I owned this modem and when I called comcast they said it was a known issue with this modem. So I decided to rent the modem from them, the fee is reasonable and now if I have any problems it falls back on them. They provided me with the motorolla sb5120, not sure what area you're in but I'm in MN. docsis 3 is the new format for the higher speeds they are offering, if you get into the 20 megs or more down you need special equipment from comcast, I was also told they need to do the install.
