Seriously (heh), I thought both were meh... I turned off Dark Night after about 30 minutes as it was boring and utterly predictable.

Let's see...fun, epic, crime drama with memorable performances, incredible take on a great concept, and beautiful direction, writing, and essentially everything else, or a story about an teenage indian game show contestant? FAILPOLL IS FAIL

I was much more impressed with Slumdog Millionaire than with Dark Knight...but that's just me..

Slumdog millionaire was amazing. Dark Knight was good, but not nearly as good as slumdog millionaire

Not a chance DK win will best picture. It didnt carry enough gravitas and wouldnt appeal to alot of the academy. I would say Gran Torino should be the odds on favorite with Slumdog a close second (i think the Golden Globe win will hurt its chances, especially it being a brit film). Ben Button will be nominated for sure as well as probably Revolutionary Road and then maybe The Wrestler as the annual underdog pick (think juno, little miss sunshine).

The Dark Knight was an ok movie, but in my opinion it's in no way Oscar quality.

the dark knight was a great movie. but it would not be getting anywhere near the rewards/oscor nominations if it was not for the fact that ledger died.

I dont like dark knight. I enjoyed Gran Torino the most among them, but I think Slumdog will get it.

Seriously?

Gran Torino was a great movie, a great send off for the quintessential Clint Eastwood character. I loved it.

But the movie was ultimately...formulaic.

Additionally, Eastwood was the only major cast member remotely able to deliver his lines well.

I would certainly pick Eastwood for lifetime achievement though (assuming he hasn't already received it).

I read it will be considered for 2008.

It had limited release in 2008 so I think it qualifies for the 08 awards

I kinda felt the same way about Gran Torino, it was good but not as good as everyone said it was. Seems it's the same way I felt about Dark Knight.
