I guess she's hot if you're into teenage boys. She has essentially zero femininity IMO.

I have never heard of Charlie Bartlett. NCFOM is brilliant, and TWBB is very good as well. Juno is highly overrated IMO and I generally found it annoying. Rambo is a pure action movie and strikes me as an odd choice in this context. Brazil is good but again totally different from the others.

For me, NCFOM is the one not to miss this year, followed by TWBB.

Extended cut, not the butchered 90+ minute one.

That being said, why did someone resurrect this thread?

It had an ending?

The version I saw didn't. I felt ripped off. I voted for Brazil. Might not be for everyone , but of the movies listed it was far and above the best.

You're sounding like it's a bad thing . To make an entirely new post when a post on the topic isn't even a month old is improper forum etiquette. Yet one could argue that the topic itself was time sensitive, but who cares.

I don't know how I could ever take your movie recommendations seriously when your concept of a thread on underrated movies was filled with mere suggestions and plenty of movies that are not underrated.

Eh? What are you trying to say? I'm pretty sure we determined many of those movies were not, technically, underrated. If I ever get a chance to shuffle them around you will see.

KT

Edit: Besides, what does that have to do with this thread?

If one cannot determine whether or not a movie is actually underrated, then how can one even look at your judgment of movies as proper? Also, isn't it easier to scrutinize the movies before adding them rather than spending the time adding them then removing them. Not to mention it degrades the actual point to just put anything up there.

Also, half the time the movies that get good reviews are boring. Typically, if Rotten Tomatoes (or rather all of the critics that they compile) rates a movie well, it's usually not that good (to me).

Well do tell then, what movies do you think are good and not boring?

Oh and yes obviously it would have been easier to do it at the beginning, but I never would have imagined how large the list would become, nor that there would be a distinction between the truly underrated and the "you should just see this" kind of movies. When it is all said and done I will probably rename the thread anyway.

I didn't think Rambo was nearly as bad as you suggested it was. The main point was definitely lots of action, but they did try to push this idea of how poorly people are treated and such. If a movie can get a rise out of me (emotion-wise you perv ), then it's good enough for me.

Juno was also not that good. Although Ellen Page gets a rise out of me .

Although, I think the thread was inherently flawed from the start. I mean, what exactly defines underrated? Is underrated for you the same as underrated for me? I doubt it.

I rated Rambo here in relation to the other movies listed, so in my opinion Brazil, TWBB, NCFOM, and Juno were all head and shoulders above (way above) Rambo. On its own I probably would not have been so harsh, but that was not the point of this thread.

Definitely flawed, but the original intent of that thread was just to find a few movies that many people considered decent, but either flew under the radar or received an unfair rating (in the poster's opinion). The thread is an almagam of poster's opinions, so there will obviously be debate as to what is, and what is not, considered underrated.

Now I'm all fired up to get it sorted out.

Well, personally if I had to see Rambo or Juno again, I'd probably watch Rambo. Although, I think the only flaw of Rambo for an action movie is that it took a really long time to ramp up to the point where you were like, "Hell yeah, John, kick some ass!" It also amused me when the squad realized that their boatman was pretty bad ass... you knew it was comin'!

I watched NCFOM for the second time the other night (I was drunk the first time and it didn't make much sense). Oddly enough it still made no sense the second time, horrible ending, wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Still need to see TWBB.
