Oh yeah i forgot to suggest the most obvious thing. Try disabling fast writes. Sometimes it like to cause problems (I have never had a problem but a lot have).

Yea, good point. I always have disabled my Fastwrites on this particular board, but I will double check tonight just to make sure they didn't reset to default at some point.
I plan to really test out XG drivers tonight, but so far they are a definite improvement. Thanks!

np man lol.. i have been going through this since i bough the card. I play mostly wc and guild so its a definate issue.. ive seen with bf 2 though.. im gonna try those xg drivers out they sound good..i have my fws disabled as well.. no diff for me..seems to only happen in d3d games from what i can see. Maybe its because wc 3 old and used dx 8.. but that wouldnt explain guild wars.. which didnt studder before when i had my 9800 pro running with the same settings..i9 went trhough my bios and disabled everything that could be the cause from my limited knowledge lol.. .but everything like video bios cacheable is off.. no change..im kinda lost at the moment, although i know guild wars is an ATI game maybe thats it.. who knows. My internet browsing studders to when i scroll up and down there sometimes will be a slight pause.. only when there is animated stuff on the website thats is java based.. im using the the latest versions to.. that to me is more annoying than the games.. didnt happen with 9800pro... lol nvidia ticks me off sometimes.

Did you ever get any stuttering problems before with older drivers?

No. Games are getting more demanding. You didn't expect us to stay at 1gig forever did you?

im not sure what you are talking about. i have 512mb ram, and the only limiting factor for me with BF2 is my 6600gt. i could play at 1024x768. with AA at 4x. and details medium. so 2gigs, is definately overkill.

wow im so happy i found the solution at guru forums it was just discovered within the past few days.... you have to download an app called pci latency.. its not only for pci express if thats what ur thinking lol.. i though that and was wrong after reading more through the thread... anyways basically mose peoples vid card lat was set to default of 248 and switching to 64 fixed most peoples problems.. some people with 32... in that thread there is a link to another thread explaining exactly what all ur latencys should be set to..

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=121190 read that then read this

I had been playing F2 earlier tonight for about 2 hours using the XG 77.77 drivers. I only had one instance where I get the video freeze accompanied with the sound issue and at the time the server was lagging incredibly bad (ping was around 400). So it seems as though these drivers did help. But I still got the stutters while playing that just seem to be a part of BF2......
Ok, so then I downloaded this pci latency app and changed the latency to 64. I then played some BF2 (only about 15 minutes), and I had absolutely no stutters/pauses.

Might be too soon to say everything is fine now, but I t's defintiely much, much, much better.

bump.. just want this to be at the top another time wanna make sure whoever doenst know about it gets this... it saved me from ditching this card.. remember to clock save apply then apply at startup u gotta have this progy running open for it to work... it uses next to nothing for system resources.. there is a way to use the registry to achieve the same results but this is much safer and just as effective without the risk

I fixed my Farcry issue by patching to 1.33 (takes 3 files).
And I found out that BF2 works much much better if I set the textures and texture filtering to medium. Other settings were mostly set high AA2x and it runs w/o jerking.

I still had Farcry hang once for about 10sec with the speaker humming and no response from the kb but it happened only once after about 20mins.

I raised my settings to 1280x960, everything on medium and 2xAA. Played perfectly. Zero lag or stutter.
Changing the PCI latency has made all the difference.
