Heh, OCZ's forum is just as funny as Intel's forum. They are both awful, just in different ways. OCZ's support people are condescending and spend most of their time blaming the users and telling them all sorts of ridiculous things to do to their system because they don't know how to fix the problems with their SSDs.
wanna bet?
go get yourself a SF-2281 based SSD with older firmware and use older outdated drivers in combination with an older outdated bios and come over there for help.
then go to Intels forums and ask for help(with oh.. I don't know.. maybe the 8mb bug?) and see how long it takes you to sort it out.
I'll take 5 condescending staff/forum members fumbling their way through trying to help me in the very first day.. over 1 staff and 1 forum member handing me half that amount of the same cookie cutter responses typically shoveled out in one weeks time over there.
To go even further here.. I would bet you large cash that OCZ's forums help more people work through issues that eventually turn out to have absolutely nothing to do with the SSD itself in one weeks time than Intels does in nearly a months time.
Now of course you could argue that OCZ has to sleep in the bed that they made for themselves(and I may not even totally disagree with that) and has to offer greater numbers of responses in comparison to Intels simply because of greater numbers of issues.
BUT that doesn't take away from the sheer volume of help available on a daily basis over there compared to Intels forum. Remedies/resources available at OCZ are night and day compared to many other forums. In fact.. much of what you see on other forums is EXACTLY mirrored to reflect the same methods at times. And since many of those same methods usually start out over at the OCZ forums first?.. we know who's watchin' who. Personally speaking, I could care less who started what workaround so long as they have it made available in the knowledge base to help others who have similar issues. Researching and parroting what has worked for others is what a good forum is all about.
And that would be regardless of the attitude that may occasionally come along with it. Sometimes it's tough not to be a dick to another dick that comes along and blames everyone but himself for not having a clue about building a custom PC. Most support forums aren't k-mart you know.. and the customer is not always right. It's especially satisfying when a customer comes in saying how advanced their knowledge base is("I'm in IT for 20 years!.. and I've seen/done it all") and lays 100% of the blame on the SSD.. only to finally end up thanking all involved for helping to clear issues while graciously eating crow as they finally discover the issue had absolutely nothing at all to do with the SSD. Petty satisfaction?.. sure. But still satisfaction nonetheless.
And I've spent more than my fair share of time trying to help out over there myself.. so I have a bigger clue about that forum and the guys involved there than most probably ever will. If you want to live on the cutting edge with this tech?.. you surely need a forum like that one to be able to do it.
And as far as criticizing a group of condescending individuals from another forum? Well?.. stones.. glass houses and all that as I've seen where some individuals around here come from and the groups that they hang out with. The word "hypocrite" seems to be a proper fitting shoe for any such individuals like that.
