Which of these TVs would you go with?

Samsung 32 Inch LCD HDTV


Olevia 37 inch LCD HDTV


The Olevia is bigger and around 70 bucks cheaper. Samsung has a great reputation in the LCD market, however. Which would you go with?

Is it just me or did that TV drop in price by $200 recently?

I swear it was $1849 a week ago.

Nope. $100 less. I've been watching the page for about a month. The original deal was $1,649.99 and free shipping. They dropped the free shipping for a few weeks @ $1,550.99, but now it's back on.

You might want to research the Olevia, I read on another site there may be a possibility that it carries a bad chipset. I will pm you the link if you want.

I've got the 32" Olevia (332h model). I'd get the Olevia. Check out avsforums.com, some of the Olevias have an ATI? chip that sucks for standard def content. The 332 and the 337 have the newer chip, I believe, because my standard def content looks smooth.

32" Olevia uses ATI chips

The one I linked doesn't use the ATI chip. It uses the MKT which is supposed to be pretty good for SD programming.

32" Olevia uses ATI chips

To clarify:

3 series (332, 337) all use pixelworks chipset.
5 series (532, 537)use a mtk chipset that uses ATI video processing.

I'll have to check the 2 series to see what it uses. There is a 43 page thread on the Olevias here.

My 3 series is also tunerless, which is fine as I'm just using it as a monitor from my HD cable box w/ HDMI cable.

I'm very happy with this budget screen A local TV store is going to have one for $497 tomorrow.

It does use the MKT chipset according to Olevia's site.

I have a 32" Polaroid now and am happy with it. Colors are good while contrast is OK, at best. Just went ahead and bought the Olevia. If the contrast is better on the it I'll be a happy man. Plus the Olevia is $300 less than what I spent for the Polariod. Good thing Wal-Mart has a 90 day return policy

I ended up purchasing the Olevia 537H 37" LCD HDTV at J&R for $699 - $150 CC Credit - $75 CC Credit + $75 shipping = $549. Not too shabby!

the 232v and a few others use the ATI.

the 332H uses the pixelworks. i just bought one of these from tiger direct.
