Firefox has the best selection of addons/extensions, but you pay the price in speed/clunkiness of the browser as you start to add a lot of those addons. If control over what's happening and your privacy/security is a top priority, then Firefox has to be one of your top considerations for a browser. In this regard, Chrome was always lacking in comparison. But it has definitely improved a lot, and the Adblock extensions that are available in Chrome no longer seem to provide such a subpar experience as they used to.
If the question is Edge or Chrome, I would say Chrome. But when it comes to browsers and web standards, we still have not reached a point where you can use a single browser that will deliver the best experience to all sites. So I have Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Any "new" browsing I do tends to happen in Firefox, certain sites that I've found to either render, perform or otherwise just work way better in Chrome, I use in Chrome. And so far I use Edge for Netflix. For some reason, I can't seem to get Firefox or Chrome to play at the same quality in Netflix, judging on the bitrate delivered.
You can always run a browser inside a virtual machine for an extra layer of comfort, but that's not always convenient.
In the end, just test drive the various browsers to see what gives the experience you're looking for. The biggest deal when it comes to extensions/addons is Adblock, IMO - but you can of course take it a lot farther than that.
