<< I couldn't fit in an A4. I bought the Altima SE 3.5 back in November, and I love it. I have yet to have any problems with this car, and I don't think the interior is ass, as was previously stated in this thread Back earlier this year during our ice storm I wouldn't have minded having the awd of the Audi, but my Altima never slipped on the ice once (though I was very careful). I like the Altima a lot, and I'm sure you would like it too. Admit it, you guys, they're both great cars, don't put down the Altima so badly here, huh? >>

No one is saying that the Altima is a bad car, it's just that is should not even be compared to an Altima...they're in different leagues and the Audi is a whole other league than "lowly" Nissans

I mean, Audi competes with BMW and Lexus, not Nissan.

<< I wouldn't rate Nissan's build quality above Audi...it's not even close. >>

Are you sure? - #1 Entry Midsize car in Initial Quality - Nissan Altima.

Audis are well known for the quality of their interiors but I think overall Nissan's build quality and especially reliability are as good if not better than Audi's.

Overall I would go with the A4 over the Altima, though. It's just a different class of car, and the Audi would have the "little things" you would come to appreciate over time. The Altima's VQ engine is damn sweet but the 1.8T is also an award-winner. Both cars have a lot to offer but the Audi would be my choice.
>>

I was just about to link that... nice work.

Look at that! Not ONE Audi on the list. NFS4, your impressions of a car may be one thing, but the stats don't lie i'm afraid.

Not to mention Infiniti, a luxury Nissan.
Now, if you don't like the style of the Altima, I understand, but if you get the leather package the interior is pretty nice, and quite comfortable. I like the seats' shape quite well - very nice for a large man. The middle console is intuitive, albeit a bit shallow. I love the stereo 6CD system - sounds great. Not quite as booming as some homemade systems, but the sound is very rich and can be loud enough if you turn it up. But you are right, they are in different classes. It seems that the Altima gets compared often to cars of a higher class on the boards here, maybe that is a sign that it isn't so "lowly" after all...

There's only ONE reason why the Altima gets compared to other cars in higher segments...and that's b/c of the engine. Keep the Altima where it belongs, with Camrys and Accords

I took an Altima 3.5 SE out for a spin for about a 45 minute test drive. It would be a nearly flawless car if the dash and air vents weren't so horribly designed. I just really don't know what they were trying to do. The whole "waterfall" dash just doesn't look right. It's awkward feeling having the dash of the car at your knees.

Not to mention two inch by two inch air vents that move little, to no air.

I just don't know what they were thinking. An otherwise beautiful car, with that nasty noggin for a dash.

Good point!

Still, I would generally take an Audi or BMW over a Nissan or Toyota (until the 350Z is released, of course ).

I dunno...I'd have to look hard between a 5-speed IS300 (I know it's a Lexus, but still) and an Audi A4 3.0 6-speed. I'd take a Z over them all

Instead of doing this "discussion" why not just test drive both of them. The Audi is nicer, from certain individuals perspectives. Reliablity for both cars are great, but Audi does have a more comprehensive warranty and service plan. The engine output isn't something you would be that greatly concerned about in everyday driving, both are sufficient.

Cars are like wine. If you can't tell the difference between good wine and liquored up grape juice, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

Your right, you can't really compare any Nissans to any Audis (except for the 350Z). However what you pay, the A4 isn't really worth it. (but this is to CDN market, for you US ppl its all the same...lucky bastards!). Personally, I'd find a used S4 that just came off a lease.

The one he linked is FWD.
>>

FWD Audi?? WTF?? That's like getting a pizza with no cheese and sauce!!!!! An Audi isn't an Audi if it doesn't have QUATTRO.

I suggest you check yoself b4 yo wreck yoself!
>>

Actually Audi was one of the pioneers of FWD also. Audi does pay for you service, but don't expect Lexus quality customer service. If you visit the the audiworld.com forums, the people that have good service experiences are outnumbered by those that have poor service experiences. Granted the wronged are usually more vocal.

I own an Audi. And not because of their service.

Audi...Quattro...no questions. Altima's new look is nicer than before but it's too ricy/boy racer looking (like that Lexus IS300)

'course, my next car is the A6 2.7T Quattro

I vote for 1.8t (you can add a performance chip to just up the boost, i think there is virtuallly no turbo lag considering how small the turbo is)

1.8t is a compact sedan which IMO is very elegant and sleek looking

the 3.5 SE is more of a sedan in size in terms of Camry, Maxima (close to).....its looks boaty...i expect the handling is not as nimble as the 1.8t

Well, the Nissan and Audi are both better cars than the Honduh... yeah, modchip in that A4 and it'll scoot... AWD rocks.
The Altima if you want bigger car... A4 if you wanna have fun driving. The 1.8T's an awesome engine... there's a ton of tuning you can do with it too if you feel the need for speed.

NFS4,

You need to stop acting like you know these cars like the back of your hand. Those two cars are pretty much aimed at different markets so you can't really compare the two. Nissan makes quality cars.....I don't know where you get off thinking they don't. What do you drive??? Unless you own an Audi or a Nissan firsthand...you can't say a damn thing about quality and whats "better".

SinNisTeR,

I would take the Altima if you care a lot about power.......Audi A4 even with the V6 isn't faster than the Altima 3.5....according to various magazines.
