Hyper 212+ Plus for 20$

Or

Zalman CNPS 9900 Max for 15$

Trying to decide which is the better performer and price.

Can't tell you how good the Zalman is, but I have the 212+ on my FX-6100 and the fan never spins above 600rpm. Unless I have a special reason I won't consider anything else.

depends on the case and cpu...

if its a thin case... id go with neither and get one which blows air directly to the board.

The CPU is in my SIG. The case has a 120mm medium speed Yate Loon and the rear has a 120mm Noctua.

What do you want to gain by changing the heatsink? That CPU and motherboard is not overclockable. Anyway, my vote goes to CM Hyper212 Evo. I pick the CM Hyper212 Evo because the fans are interchangeable with a faster or silent fan and you can do a push pull.

yeah whats wrong with the stock heat sink if u cant overclock?

are you getting really bad thermals off the stock?

Id say keep the stock sink on it, and forget it... it does a fine job @ Stock.

I would go with the CM Hyper 212+ over the Zalman. I've installed both before into builds for people and I prefer the Hyper 212+. The Zalman is decent, but as MontyAC points out it uses a proprietary fan. The Hyper 212+, however, can easily have its fan switched out for a different fan should you want a quieter fan (though the included fan is pretty decent in terms of both cooling and sound).

Two questions for you though...

1.) Where are you purchasing these from as I can't find the Zalman listed anywhere for $15.

2.) I'm curious about how your sig says that you are running 6GB of 1333MHz RAM on a MSI B85M-P33 board. Are you running one or two sticks and what brand are they?

These were offers for buying used.

And 4gb stick and a 2gb stick. They're random sticks, ones Panamea or whatever and another I have no idea.

The 212+ will cool better, and thus will/could run almost silently.

9900 looks better, and will still easily keep your 4430 cool... it keeps my 3570K @ 4.5GHz under 75C (at 25C ambient) during normal use (ie: not stress testing with that ambient temp). Running at idle speeds, it's "practically" silent... and with your 4430 it will probably keep around idle speed all the time... does get loud at full speed though. Not obnoxiously (IMO)... there's no whine, it's not really high-pitched, fairly big fan, 1200RPM... so it sounds more like a stationary/standing room fan.

If looks isn't a concern... go with the 212+

I'm going with the 212+

Does anyone know which of the following would be the best for the heatsink?

Cooler Master R4
Corsair H60 fan (new h60) or
Stock fan that came with 212+
I also have a Noctua NF-12B (but I'm using it as a rear fan at the moment)

CM R4 and Noctua aren't PWM so I'd skip those. Not sure if the Corsair fan is better, you could try both that one and the stock fan and compare

Does this mean you are running your RAM single channel?
Pretty much.

It doesnt matter since the differences are miniscule.
