Which OS for your DCing systems?

What do people normally use for their folding/etc. etc. systems?
Windows XP?
Linux?

Using XP (I have VLK so I guess it's free ) for my dedicated crunchers.

For my servers that also crunch, they are all running Fedora Core 2, 3, 4, or Red Hat Enterprise 3.

I'm crunching S@H BOINC.

I use winXP.

But I think that for Folding@Home, Linux can more easily get some bonus WUs, something to do CPU type reporting to the server.

Windows, only really because I already have liscenses for each of my PC's. I only 1 mandrake10 box, but its a 450PII that overheats and locks up when running 100% for extended periods of time.

On the same question. Any point in using XP64 for a DC box? I should have an Intel DC system for folding soon..

Not unless you're running a 64 bit DC client. I put XP 64 on my Dad's new Athlon 64 and had to take it off in favor of Windows 2000 because I couldn't find a 64 bit printer driver.

I've got some linux/XP dual boots and I find that seti runs appreciably faster in XP.

Usually Win2K. I've cruched with most everything and currently have 4 Win2K and one 98. Seems like Linux clients are usually a little slower to me too, but that could just be my experience/observation.
