which pci slot should my audigy go on

hi everyone,

i am trying to figure out of the 3 pci slots available, which one should my audigy go on so that i may minimize sharing of resources. i read the motherboard's manual but i am a little confused. i read somewhere that it should go on pci slot 2, which is the middle one. any suggestions are welcome. thanks in advance.

Anyone , it doesn't seem that you have anything else that is PCI in there.

I would go with #2 or anyone other then the one right under the AGP Slot as that one is usually shared with the Vid Card

go with one that doesnt share IRQ with the AGP, or harddrives.

I believe it's #2 and #5 that has the least IRQ conflicts.

It's pretty simple. This chart is in your manual:

A8N

It tells exactly what is shared in each PCI slot. Slot 3 shares with nothing. Slot 1 shares with 4 things. Slot 2 shares with LAN2.

I would put it in 3.

Hrm I just put mine in the slot farthest from the videocard to promote cooling and airflow. Seems to run fine there. Shrug.

thanks for all of your advice guys. looks like slot 3 is the winner. currently, i am using the onboard sound but that isn't cutting it so i'm going to plop in my audigy tonight. as always, these forums are very helpful.
