So I've been looking into these PSU's

Antec Truepower II 550W
SeaSonic S12 600W

After rebates the Antec is about $50 cheeper.. I can't decide which would be better.

I am going to be getting a DFI SLI-DR mobo, 2 7800GT's, and a X2 3800+ eventually.... everything else in the rig below is going into this computer as well.

I remember seeing the stress test on tomshardware where one Antec failed a test but another Antec passed them. Can't remember which one though.

Seasonic>Antec

Antec is not bad by ANY MEANS though, just Seasonic is better than them.

-Kevin

Edit: Save money and get like a 500 Watt Seasonic. I doubt you will even break 420Watt under max load even with SLI.

Read this review. It does not involve the Antec but the portion on the S 12 sure got my attention..LINKY 1% voltage variation,
efficient and quiet. Not a bad package. This PSU might last several builds.

Get the Seasonic 500W or the Antec TruePower 550W. No need for a $160 power supply.

There is also the Enermax Whisper 2.0 535W for $88 which you should consider. It is SLI certified and delivers nice power.

add a poll.

I would recommend the Seasonic S12-600 for your SLI rig. Read the SPCR review of the S12-500 & S12-600. I can atest to the s12-500's quality & silence (see sig).

I just cant stand for that much money that Seasonic can't even sleeve the 24pin connector harness. The twisting of the wires really makes a mess in the case. Just my 2 cents

Go for the S12 500 or 600 ewiz.com runs specials that bring the s12 600 down to around 130 every so often, (thats how I got mine) I'd suggest that

They include a Dr. Cable Management though so if you feel so inclined you can do it

I would go for the Seasonic between those two models but I found my Antec SP 500 watt for $50 ar so that is what I went for instead. You should also take into account what case you want to get/all-ready have. The SP 500 works great for me as I am going to buy a P-180, this means that the push/pull design of the sp (fans on front and back, not back and bottom) work well in the lower drive bay of the 180.

Having had 2 Antec fail within one year of purchase, and having a Seasonic now (running for 8 months with no probs) I'd go Seasonic...and get the 500W.

Antecs are good and quiet, Seasonics are better and quieter.

For someone who says Antecs are good and quiet, you seem to have pretty bad luck with them.

Why not a Fortron AX450, nearly same voltages at $49.

Fortron AX450 ($49) rated outputs:

+3.3V@30A, +5V@28A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@0.5A, +5VSB@2A

Season 600W ($144)

+3.3V@30A, +5V@30A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2A

You'll have nearly $100 to spend on 2gb's of ram or GTX's.

Those are likely maximum readings on the Fortron unit, while the Seasonic delivers that power continuous. Seasonic does indeed deliver 36A on the 12V, I doubt that Fortron unit can come even close to that.
