Which Ram for Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS?

Hey guys,

I can finally build a PC and I decided for Ryzen.
Man is it complicated..
I can't decide which RAM I should choose. I heard 3000 MHz is important with Ryzen. Does it affect gaming? Some say yes, while others say no.
And which one should I choose? The cheapest options for me (in Germany) are the G.Skill Aegis DIMM kit 16GB, DDR4-3000 and the Corsair Vengeance LPX blue DIMM kit 16GB. Are they any good? Or are there any known issues with them in combination with Ryzen 5 1600 and Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS?
I would really appreciate some help

the "AMD Ryzen 5 1600" comes with a CPU cooler.
If you are not going to Wildly overclock it , it should work well.
incl. CPU cooler (AMD Wraith Spire, WxHxD: 103x54x109mm)

Yes but I want to overclock it. Wouldn't the stock cooler bottleneck my OC attempt?

Depends on how "Mild to Wild" you want to push it. Best way to overclock is bump the speed up a little at a time and then full load test it for stability while watching your temps.
You can always buy a better cooler if you want to go higher. If your temps are OK but you run into stability problems , you would not need a cooler. depends on your budget.
Personally , I'd go with a 1700 - 2 more cores ... on the other hand , I do like the looks of that cooler you have listed

Well I want to have a silent build (but on a rather tight budget... I know..) and thus I have a case without a window (but with sound dampening material) so I don't mind the looks of the components. Ok I will try it with the stock cooler first, then, if I don't reach 3,8 GHz, I buy a better cooler. But the main issue here is with RAM ^^
Any ideas on that?

Yeah. Basically unless you buy samsung b-die RAM for 40-50% extra, you're not going to achieve the RAM's rated speed currently. I'd wait until final AGESA 1.0.0.6 is released and tested, especially on B350 boards, before buying RAM. If you can, wait until they've also updated their QVL.

That doesn't allow filters for the actual chips on the DIMMs. I can say though that the CL14 TridentZ and RipJawsV ram from G.Skill are definitely samsung b-die.

The first link yes, that is regarding 1.0.0.6 however it is a BETA bios, which I wouldn't hold as indicative of the final version for RAM support. I'm running a beta 1.0.0.6 on my Prime X370-Pro and whilst it is better, it is causing stability issues at higher speeds, confirmed by others. Final versions should be out in the next couple of weeks.

They are CL16 and based on their timings are Hynix chips. If you are looking to have excellent RAM compatibility at the rated speeds for the RAM, they will not be good. You need CL14.
