Which router\firewall to buy.

I've been looking at getting a 4port router which also acts as a firewall, I know most use NAT ans I've used the SMC's in the past so I was just wondering which one should I get. I know netgear has 3 different ones but only one says firewall. If they all use NAT what makes 1 better than the next besides setup?

Sorry I don't have the answer, but I've got the same question.

I just bought the SMC Barricade SMC7004AWBR for $100 A.R. It has wi-fi, although I don't need that right now (maybe in the future). But I like the built-in print server. I haven't even opened it up yet, after reading some of the reviews.

One option I have is to add a TER/91 ethernet adaptor to my old Netopia R7100-C for the same price ($100); great firewall, but no wi-fi, print server.

So... Which router/firewall to buy?

IMHO, all consumer level are about the same...
cheaper the better...

I agree, I have the smc 7004 abr but am a little ticked that it doesn't log attacks although it claims too. but it works rather well overall

Yea SMC is good, I was planing on buy it again, untill I was the Netgear for like 50bucks at CompUSA and the linksys for 70, while the smc is still at 8- for B&M's. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of a great difference in the 3.


UPDATE: I bought the NETGEAR for 50 bucks after rebate and pricematched.

I don't think you'll find much difference between Linksys, Netgear, SMC, or DLink. Let their prices be the tie-breaker.
