I've spent a lot of time searching about these 2 models but can't find anything about temperatures or how loud it is. I have to choose one of these ASRock Radeon RX6700XT Challenger Pro OC 12GB or XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT SWFT 309 Gaming 12GB and don't know which one.

I have the SWFT myself. Ootb it's pretty quiet, but still audible at idle, but you can adjust the default fan curve to rectify that without any significant hit to thermals - the card will stay plenty cool either way. The cooler handles itself well under load as well. I can at least recommend it, but I don't know anything about the Asrock card

Update: Ran the stress test in Adrenaline for 5 minutes, with my fan curve the GPU core temps held at 68c, junction temps held at 96c and GPU fan speed is around 1900RPM. I tried recording what the fan sounded like but even at 30cm away from my tower, my phone wasn't picking it up. Suffice to say, the cooler overall holds up rather well for stock settings.

Until XFX gets out of their legal trouble, I would not go with them. It makes warranty issues iffy.

I would choose Sapphire over both of those. Though I will note I have been very happy with my Asrock motherboards, I have not had one of their GPUs.

I had the 5700xt Tai Chi from ASrock, in addition to having used their boards in the past.

I haven't been in an RMA situation with them, so I can't comment there. The GPU and the Mobo's I've had have all been solid.

I didn't have the 5700xt for long though. I sold it off in an attempt to cash in on the crazy CPU prices we had been experiencing in 2021.

I would without a doubt take the ASRock of those two. There is no reasonable excuse for a midrange GPU to be as massive as that XFX is, it's ridiculous and may very well limit your case options and resell opportunities, and that massive hunk of plastic isn't going to cool a ~230 watt GPU any better. I would have passed on my XFX 6900XT if I hadn't been going to pull it's cooler off anyway for a waterblock. There is no reason to make coolers that extend well beyond the videocard's pcb, virtually no one uses the pci-e slots below the GPU anymore. Build them thicker if necessary, not longer.

Eh, ASRock coolers aren't the best, their 5700XT cooler was pretty crappy. XFX may be big, but that typically means they'll be quiet. It'll fit into any enthusiast case so I don't think size is an issue.

I had to remove a drive cage to get my 6700xt to fit. That thing is longer than my 3090 FE.

My XFX RX6900XT was originally going into my Corsair Carbide Air 540 (FYI they are on the large end of the pc case scale) but it wouldn't clear the front radiator so I had to use the RedDevil in there. So I wouldn't say size isn't an issue, particularly for a midrange card such as the 6700, they need to fit in a wide variety of cases. For instance my reference RX6700XT fits comfortably in a tiny ncase M1.

The least bad is Asrock in my opinion.

I do have an Asrock mainboard that I was an unhappy camper with. It worked, but the board creased under the GPU (which surprisingly did not break it), the WiFi connectors were chinsy and fell out of the cheapest backplate I have ever seen. The board came with overclocking features Intel later forced Asrock to remove.

On the flip side said mainboard still functions to this day, and Asrock did provide driver and BIOS support for years, so their software support was excellent. Also, not a Chinese company.

XFX, Chinese company, caught red handed smuggling, criminal activity makes me super leery of buying anything from them.

I would go with the XFX card. Better build quality and warranty.
I was going to say that too. XFX cards, in my experience, tend to be solid and well-built.

And i hear its not the end of it....
US Customs is also hear is going "hmmmmmm" oh really?

So id expect a major audit coming there way soon, were talking about the US Government and TAXES and CUSTOMS.
Even Joker from batman did not want to mess with the IRS and Taxes.

For AMD: (if Nvidia its EVGA without batting an eye, i do not care how much more expensive they are, the after service is so worth it.)
My favorate cards are ASUS TUF series, followed by Saphire Nitro+.... Powercolor is Alright.... id consider it a mid tier AMD AIB, however they do make the only white PCB card (hellhound).

I do not like MSI.... or do i like Zotac...
I hate Zotac because they had a Miners First mentality.... meaning all of there cards belonged to miners.
MSI, was the first to bumping all the prices 10000% once they realized they could do so, so out of principle they can eat it.

-I am a gamer for life.... and an off duty miner.... so gamers always come first in my book.

XFX used to be good, with double lifetime warranties. Even before that, back in the day, they used to be premier Nvidia partner as well, similar to BFG, and then switched to AMD/ATI partner with the launch of the first DX11 cards, the 5870 and 5850. Now I would not consider them much, plus what has been mentioned already.

Currently, best AMD GPU brands are generally Sapphire and Powercolor IMO. I would also consider others, such as ASrock, MSI, and Asus. Depends on the individual model though, one needs to do the research and look at reviews for cooling, PCB quality, software/firmware features, etc.

Then there is also Aorus/Gigabyte, but I don't think they have been making great GPUs recently, especially on the AMD side. One might even say they have had a lot of issues in general as of recent, such as with their PSUs.

I do currently like MSI a fair bit for motherboards now and in the past (I think I prefer their UEFI design best) but I don't have much experience with their GPUs. I had an MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X before, which did fine, and I then sold it to a friend, who I think still uses it. This is the only MSI video card I can think of having an experience with.

I have had 1x Powercolor RX380, it died and was replaced under warranty. Powercolor's warrantee service was good.

I have had 2x MSI RX580, both running to this day. No problems, beat the crap out of one. Happy customer.

I have had 1x Sapphire Vega 56, modified heatsink a bit, ran it hot with inadequate cooling for years, no problems. Happy customer.

I also have an AMD reference card, but it is to new to give a fair evaluation. Memory overclocks nicely on it though.

Never sold any of my GPUs, but I did give a few away to friends and family so I know they still work. Grandkids seemed delighted to have even the old ones.

( I have some older junk just lying around, rage 128, Geforce 256, etc. They did not die, they just obsoleted. )
