LOL! I've got the 570s and they're great. I mostly use them hooked up to my receiver, which has plenty of clean amp power.

Main difference between open and closed is whether they completely cover your ear; open will rest on top of your ear while closed will be similiar construction to a set of hearing protectors (rigid units that cover your entire ear).

I've got those. They're great. I get perfect reception when sitting near my transmitter (within 15 feet), and then the signal builds up a bit of static until it sounds like a telephone and crumpling paper from downstairs and 40 feet horizontal distance.

Forget wireless. Go 497.
And I presume it was the Export Heineken that made you this drunk...?

I too am looking for some good headphones for my computer setup. Currently using some sub $20 pair of studio style Labtec LT-835s (I'm really suprised they have a model number on them). Just want to be able to hook them up to my Dell HK-495 headphone jack without amping. Now, I'd be all for the HK497s except for the dual cord design. I have found that I really prefer the single cord with side mount.
Should I be thinking HD570s?

Dual cord design?? Please elaborate.

Dual cord as in one wire from each ear/can. A lot of them now have a single cord from one can (so the wire goes to the other ear through the top strap).

Sigh... more models to pick from if you consider Sony. Sony MDR-V6 or Sony MDR-7506. My goal is sub $100.

How much did they set ya back? Im leaning towards the 497's, but might consider wireless ones if the price is decent... They also sold the 30, 40, 45, 60, & 65 wireless ones....
