pretty simple really, i can name hundreds of bands off a few seconds of a song and a lot of that is because the singer has a distinctive voice, i simply dont care to memorize the band members.

Upon first hearing edit piaf one knows her. That's distinction. You hear a song by Tom Waits for the first time you know its him.

I Could hear a song by the smashing pumpkins and know its them from the voice after about .5 seconds....but don't know his name.

So it's undistinctive now? Lol

just because i cant pull the name up in my head does not mean its not a distinctive voice. i find knowing artists names as pointless as knowing who directed movies

and just because, i would not be able to name a Tom Waits song off his voice alone because TBH i dont think ive ever heard one, and if i have i dont rememver it
