Which smartphone?

I must be one of the few remaining people who do not have a smartphone. I am eligible for an upgrade, and can now acquire one of the magical devices. Which phone would you recommend and why? Thank you.

Well without any specifics, I can say I really like the Galaxy S4 and HTC One and would look closely at those phones if you don't mind carrying something around that size.

I love the Galaxy S4 because of the large 5 inch screen paired with a very small bezel. And the phone has 3 Android buttons on the bezel (HTC One only has 2).

I love the HTC One because of the aluminum body and front facing speakers. And I hear Sense is a little less bloated and smoother (but it's still stuck on Android 4.1 for some reason).

If you want something smaller, I might consider the iPhone 5. For some reason Android manufactures seem to gimp their smaller sized phones.

Too late in the cycle for an iPhone 5.

Only four acceptable phones the rest of the year: S4, HTC 1, Note 3, iPhone 5S.

Work plan, so only cost is the purchase. Budget of $300. Verizon in IL. Phone, email, text, pics, web browsing, in that order. Important to me are battery life, app functionality, screen size, ease of use, in that order.

Nokia will probably be announcing the successor to the Lumia 920 around the time of the iPhone 5S.

If you want to buy now, the S4 is really the only choice in my opinion as the current iPhone is almost a year old and the HTC One is not yet available on Verizon. If you're okay with waiting, I'd get the HTC One over the S4 or consider the next iPhone depending on how that turns out. The Nokia Windows Phone phones are quite good as well.

I'd suggest going into the store and trying them out in hand to see what you like.
