Which speakers to get?

I have decided to buy some new speakers to compliment my other speakers. I have some Altec Lansing acs 45.2 speakers and i want to get some more speakers so i can fill up the whole house with some noise and stuff. I was wondering if i should get another pair of acs 45.2 speakers or a pair of the acs 54 speakers. Or any other speakers that are <100 bucks?

I have the ACS54's, they sound great. I've had them for around a year, and I think I've managed to blow them recently (rear tweeter - if you can call it that'). The overall sound quality is amazing for the $100 CDN I paid for these. The Bass is full and rich, and the mids and highs sound great too. I'm definetly not an audiophile, but I do like my sound to be high quality.

I am planning on buying ACS56's as soon as I get the money. They have a larger sub, and I think the drivers are all a bit more powerful as well.

I have the ACS54 and they sound WORSE than my friends Creative FPS1000. Yes the FPS1000 isnt' as powerful, but the speakers are higher quality.

Because you cannot control the frequencies that go to the drivers, they pick up all the bass, and as a result will bottom out and you get aweful distortions.

My personal opinion is save up another $60 and get the FPS2000. As much power as the ACS56 about, but they aren't shoddy quality like the Altecs.


Of course why not just save for Klipsch (I have them on my main system, the ACS54 has no highs or lows in comparison)

Definitely go for FPS2000. BUY.COM has them for $110 with shipping included. Can't go wrong there!

i think i have changed my mind to the acs 56 speakers since they are more powerful and cheaper. Anyone know where i can get them cheap? i cant find anywhere with a stock. Does best buy have them?

Yup i agree with finality. If your going to sink money into speakers, might as well do it right. fs 2k are ok, but not so great sounding for music. The little sats just don't reproduce the full requency needed. Dont get me wrong, they don't sound horrible, but after a while their deficiencies will get on your nerves.

I had ACS54 and LOVED it.. for now, I think the BEST BANG for your buck is the newer version of ACS56

One consideration could be the Videologic range, they are starting to become more apparent in the US now, they are very good

If $100 is too much for you to spend, buy the Altec Lansing ACS33 for $50 (I've seen them on sale for as low as $30). I just bought a pair (comes with sub) a few weeks ago, and I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchase.

The speakers can handle anything, and the sub delivers nice, rich bass, without any distortion.

i am looking for something that i can pick up at the nearest best buy or compusa or whatever local store. Relaying the order through my parents is not an option as they wont order it for me.

I've never used the ACS54...but the 56 are very nice, more powerful Sub and better frequency control. They lack the pure digital 4 channel of the FPS2000 but I think the ACS56 is overall a better set.

I can get them for $160 canadian, so that's about $105 US.

If you want to go all out the Video Logic Sirocco Crossfires or Klipsch ProMedia's are both seriously kick a$$ sets, but they cost alot more than $100.

If you don't want 4way speakers try the AL ACS-48 PowerCube, these are quite nicely powered, but they lack the rear sats.

If you have a friend, pay him e $250 for the Klipsch's or the $wahtever for the VideoLogic's...I waited 6 weeks for these here ProMedia's and you would have to pry them from my cold dead fingers, I USED to like my FPS2000's These Klipsch's are worth every minuite and every penny.

i have both the klipsch and the fps2000. words can't even describe the klipschs the fps2000 are mediocre at best.

i care about sound, but i would be made fun of and be yelled at by my sister's and friends that i spent 250 bucks for some darn speakers.

Don't tell em I am thinking about getting an RCA to stero mini adapter, and getting another set and muting my TV...that is how good they are.
