All of these states are famous for their BBQ, but which state has the best?

I've been to 1 "Texas BBQ" place, they had Brisket & BEEF ribs, and apparently this is the norm down there. FUCK THAT no no no!

Your poll probably has too many choices; I'd say you could legitimately narrow it down to 4 main styles:

North Carolina- whole hog with a watery, vinegar-based sauce
South Carolina- Pork butt with a mustard-based sauce
Missouri- pork ribs with a thin tomato and vinegar sauce
Texas- Beef brisket with a heavy tomato and molasses sauce

Of those, my favorite is the Missouri-style ribs. I don't think anything beats getting some spare ribs, trimming them St. Louis style, putting on a heavy rub, and finishing with a high-heat application of a tangy sauce. The best part is turning the rib tips into a chef's snack/pork candy!

Not on the list

Alabama has the best BBQ

Now has become a multi-state chain expanding in the Atlanta Georgia area.

Dreamland BBQ

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamland_Bar-B-Que

Dreamland Bar-B-Que is a barbecue restaurant chain based in Alabama. It was founded by "Big Daddy" John Bishop in the Jerusalem Heights neighborhood of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1958, but has since franchised, opening restaurants in Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, Mobile, Northport, and opened two restaurants in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area: Roswell, and Peachtree Corners.

The menu differs from location to location. At the original location in Tuscaloosa, the menu consists of only ribs, rib sandwiches, and white bread. At the other locations, in addition to ribs, they also serve pulled pork, barbecue chicken, smoked sausage, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, house salads and banana pudding.

Dreamland is eminently known for their ribs and their barbecue sauce.[1]
Accolades

The original Dreamland is one of Tuscaloosa's main attractions.[2] The restaurants have received much attention from local and national media outlets.

In 2005, Southern Living listed Dreamland in its article on the best restaurants in the state of Alabama.[3]

In 2006, USA Today included Dreamland as one of the top 10 "barbecue joints" in the country.[4] The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, in 2006 listed Dreamland at #3 of "best eateries around the SEC."[5]

Also, in May 2008, Details Magazine listed Dreamland as the best barbecue by mail order.[6]

Best bbq I've ever had was done by a couple of guys I work with. They have their own smokers and make their own rub. Every bbq restaurant I've ever been to pales in comparison to what a knowledgeable bbq guy can do on his own. Im sure that's pretty standard across all states.

yeah, but what style of BBQ do they prefer? The question isn't about restaurants or who does it--it's about the style, which is linked to the states.

far too many states in the poll, anyway. As there are only 4 states with their own style. The rest are imitators/adopters.

That would be Tennessee. Missouri doesn't have a style. They just became the hub of the beef and pork industry, so pretty much adopted everyone else's style.

But, IIRC, Kansas City invented "BBQ sauce" ...so they have that dubious distinction of contributing the worst abomination to the world of BBQ.
