Wondering which geforce ti4200 would be best for gaming, the Gainward or the Albatron (both are 128mb)?

Thanks

Do you need the features of one over the other? Is there a more impressive software package? Is one clocked higher, or do you plan to O/C?

Yeah, you'll need to specify if you're overclocking or not. If you're talking about the Albatron Ti4200P Turbo, it's more expensive than the Gainward. However, if you're planning on overclocking, the Albatron will O/C farther than the Gainward. At OCAddictions, they got their card to 319MHz on the core and 702MHz on the memory - stable. According to the reviewer, stable to him is 7 hours of continuous 3dMark 2001se without a crash and without the slightest hint of artifacts/visual anomalies. That's freaking impressive. For comparison's sake, the normal Ti4200 w/ 128MB of memory is clocked at 250/444 core/memory (500MHz memory on the 64MB version), and the Ti4600 is clocked at 300/650. So, this card basically can overclock to AT LEAST the same levels as the Ti4600. The Gainward, on the other hand, will probably get the same overclock on the core, but will fall short on the memory. It will probably only get to 600MHz if you're lucky. Is either a bad choice? No. You have to decide how much performance you want and how much you're willing to spend. I really like the Gainward, but if I had money to blow, that Albatron's a sweet-looking card.

Ya, I'm planning to overclock, just can't afford anything greater than ti4200. My maximum budget was £100 for a gfx card but I'm willing to spend £130 (seen both cards for this price in ebay buynow). Do ya think it's worth it??

I have no clue how to overclock gfx cards, so I'll probably ask that when I actually get one! :Q

Thanks for the advice...

To overclock, the best thing to use is RivaTuner, it also fixes the 60Hz problem in Windows XP/2000/NT4. Download it from voodoofiles.com under nvidia tools, it works great, but now that i think of it if those are retail box cards they should come with their own overclocking programs as well.

see what each card comes with (software, etc.) to help make a decision, too. the albatron does look mighty tempting, though. enjoy your new card, and buy me one too

Why not get one from dabs.com from their value range if you are strapped for cash. They are inno3d cards.

Gainward - no questions just the Gainward - built for overclocking and already comes overclocked (golden sample that is)

I have a Inno3D Ti4200 64MB - clocks in at 310/630 stable. £130 at time of purchase.

Cool what program are you using to overclock it? I have just recently picked up a 128MB version..

Is the Gainward a Golden Sample?
If so, that means it has faster memory and comes already slightly overclocked.
I have the Golden Sample version of the Gainward GF 3 Ti 200 running stable at 240/510 (that is Ti 500 speed)
I can't speak to the GF 4 line but I've been very impressed with my Gainward.
Also don't know anything about the Albatron. They used to be a low-end brand but I think one of the big names bought them recently and their video cards and mobos have been getting very good reviews lately.
