CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1000VA 600W PFC Compatible Mini-Tower is better for computer systems. I've herad of PSUs having some odd issues with the simulated sinewave output of some UPS. It says its designed to work with "Active PFC power supplies and conventional power supplies". If you don't NEED it, you could wait a few weeks to see if it goes on sale again. I just picked one up last week for ~$90.

I have the CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD and not think twice about buying another one if I needed an extra.
I own two CP1350AVRLCD units and the CP1350AVRLCD.
I have not experienced any electronics that couldn't negotiate the modified sine wave.

I have had a CP1350AVRLCD on my server since Feb 2011 and it hasn't missed a beat.

One last question can I plug a surge protector/power strip to a UPS directly or is that not recommended ?

Reason being is not all 4 plugs will not fit because some of the plugs will take up 2 plugs with their space.

You don't want to use an power strip with a UPS. To be safe, just use a power cord extension. That way you can plug your wall warts into the extender without taking over multiple outlets on your UPS.

I have two CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD. It's a great UPS. I use one on my main rig (see sig) and one on my file server. I also connect my networking equipment, speakers and monitor between them. My equipment stays up for at least 30 minutes in the event of a power failure. Most disruptions are shorter in duration like it never happened. Wife has an APC 1000 unit. Highly recommend the CyberPower with the active sine wave.

There is no reason why you couldn't use a power strip with a UPS, as long as it doesn't have the extra circuity to "clean" the line noise. You just want a basic power strip, nothing fancy.
I have used them for years at many different locations and not one problem ever.
*edit, obviously, you don't want to overload the UPS, so pay attention to the wattage of each device!

Also, pure sine wave vs simulated sine wave don't really matter that much for consumers, either are almost certainly better than your home wiring output. All PSUs created today can deal with either source just fine.

"Power strip"... Yes, to add some more outlets, but don't overload UPS rated capacity.
"Surge protector"... No

You can't plug a surge protector INTO a UPS as it isn't meant for that.
However you can do the opposite.
APC site basically says you would want to make sure the UPS is the only thing plugged into the surge protector as it will switch to battery mode often if there are other high powered devices drawing power on the same surge protector.

They also say it can potentially compromise the ground connection, but with a decent surge protector with ground, it shouldnt be a problem.

Basically most UPS's are 100% fine without a surge protector. But there is nothing BAD about using one, it can just add extra possible failure points and isn't exactly recommended.

So don't plug a surge protector into a UPS, but feel free to plug a UPS into a surge protector if you wish to add more or better surge protection (though it would almost certainly be placebo more than provide any real protection you'd need to worry about)

Many know that a surge protector must not be plugged into a UPS. But many do not know why. A UPS in battery backup is typically not as 'clean' as they would have you believe. For example this 120 volt pure sine wave UPS outputs 200 volt square waves with a spike of up to 270 volts. That is perfectly ideal for all electronics. But may be harmful if connected to a surge protector circuit.

Best is a power strip that has no protector parts and that has that always required 15 amp circuit breaker.
