Which Vid card in which system????

Hey folks.
how's it going today?

I have a little problem (not much of a problem really just looking for some advice)

I have a majority of the parts for my secondary machine at home and wondering how I should set up my video system.

Machine #1
Athlon 700- running comfortably at 850 with 115fsb & Leufkins GFD
Abit Ka7-RY bios
128 megs Generic SDRAM PC100
SBLive xGamer
Antec SX1030 Case
S&F 12X scsi burner- Adaptec SCSI card
Netgear 10/100 NIC
27 gig Maxtor HD

Machine #2
Celeron2 600 (Haven't got it running yet, don't know what it will do, have been told it could do 850)
Asus P2B-F
128megs of generic PC100
Diamond S100 PCI soundcard
Samsung 32x eide CD-Rom


OK, now the 2 cards
#1- GeForce DDR CL OEM
#2 SH G400

I make my money doing CAD work and I like the G400 for its 2d. I don't have the GeForce in my possesion currently, but will be picking it up this evening. I remember reading that Athlons and GeForces sometimes had problems playing with each other so I figured I would pose my question to the masses and see what came of it.

The setup would really depend on which machine gets the GeForce DDR. The GeForce, with it's better OpenGL implementation would make the best CAD card...but also the best gaming card. If I were you, I'd put the DDR in your athlon system, and use it for CAD and gaming, and use the Celeron for 2d work - surfing, photoshop stuffs etc.etc. You could even put the CDR into the Celeron machine, so you could burn a cd while playing games or working...

As for imcompatibility, this was only on older (mostly AMD750-based) motherboards, and seeing as how you have a KX133-based board, you should have no problems

Thanks, thats what I decided to do. Now if my new case would get here so I can build the Celeron machine I would be ecstatic.

Unfortunately, I don't get much 3D CAD work. I work for an structural engineering firm with a large contract to a residential design firm that does work strictly in 2D. I love to do 3D rendering work, but with the amount of time it takes to model and render a decent sized building, I can't really afford to play around with it. Have been looking for some contract work however.
