Which video card is better?

A refurbished Creative 32MB DDR GeForce Annihilator Pro using the GeForce 256 chip for $99 at Compgeeks.com .

OR

The Guillemot Hercules NVIDIA 3D Prophet II MX 32MB Single Display OEM for $108 at Compuplus.com ?

Any input would be appreciated. All I'm looking for is faster FPS, better gaming, no extra multimedia stuff or anything. Thanks!

I'd take the MX

The MX is always faster than the GF256-SDR, and depending on the circumstances it can be slower or faster than the GF256-DDR.

But the MX uses much less power and has fewer compatiblity problems, it also has the newer feature set of the GeForce2 (like DirectX features, all for games), and it's not a refurb. I hate refurbs.

Speedwise depending on res the GF256-DDR is probably a tad faster..

Both of them are good cards but the DDR sounds like a better deal.
It retails for alot more and at higher res it is also faster

well first off if that was a retail herc gf2mx , i'd go for it, but its not and wont have the 183mhz ram, it'll be 143 mhz ram overclocked to 166mhz i think. SO get the creative. You might end up with better 2d on the herc though, from what i've heard, but yeah its probably better to get the annhilator pro. Refurbished just means, it was probably pulled from systems and retested.

Im not sure the GeForce would run on that p2 mobo since the DDR is probably the worst card for lower quality/older agp slots because it requires ALOT of power.

From the bench marks I've seen the Geforce 256 is better then the GF2 MX. The MX was designed for dual display wasn't it.

Isn't the MX cheaper then the 256? I see the MX and the 256 in stores all the time and the MX is always cheaper.

also a lot of people dont like dealing with calling CSRs , and pricematching with coupons and such. Gives me a dirty feeling if i actually have to call. You could try the online pricematch, but then again they are gonna charge you for overnight shipping.

Get the MX. Although the GF DDR will be faster at high resolutions, the MX will draw much less power and generate much less heat, plus it will be more compatible with older motherboards.
