You again? I thought we all managed to shut you up on that 9800SE mod thing last time you brought it up. What, do you work for the division of ATi that only sells 9800SEs? Why do you keep touting that POS like it's actually a good deal now that the 9800pro itself is only marginally more expensive and doesn't carry the risk of artifacting/crapping out like a flashed card does. And if I remember correctly, aren't you the moron who tried to sell us all on E-Machines?

Edit: Yes, that GT is a great card; basically all you have to do is pick how much you want to spend: 200 for 9800pro, 300 for 6800, or 400 for GT. Good god we should just sticky that exact sentence and it would save us countless threads.

Isn't that the truth! I agree, it isn't too hard to read a bunch of reviews and come to that general consensus - the only place it gets really hard is the sub $200 market, and I think generally we are not good ones to ask about that because we are going to say something like "why spend $135 when you can get and 9800 Pro new with twice the performance for just $50 more. Are you cheap or something? You must not be hardcore gamer if you can't afford that, etc."

Good god sneaky don't encourage him...to recommend modding a card that has absolutely no guarantees to people who probably don't even update their stock video card drivers is a fallacy at best. All he's doing is generating 100 more threads of
"MY SE->PRO MOD HAS ARTIFACTS...WTF" and
"How do I RMA my failed flash?" and of course the inevitable
"Is my card dead? It started smoking after I clocked it to 2.8 ghz so it would match my Celeron and now I'm watching my house burn do you think I can RMA the ashes?"

BIOS-Modding of Cheap GPU's is for poor hardware enthusiasts, and if the guy had to come and post a thread about what he needed (no offense to the OP) there's a good chance he's less than knowledgable this will cause more problems than it fixes. Also, is the OP prepared to suck it up and keep the card if the mod fails and he ends up with a ruined GPU? Or is he just planning on RMA'ing it and passing the costs of his ineptitude onto everyone else?

Wait until the price drops on the GTor X800 Pro or purchase a used one off Ebay. You will regret getting 9800pro or XT, they are already getting outdated.

I went ahead and bought a BFG 6800 OC for $250 shipped... should recieve it in a few days.

I really couldn't go above the $350 price range for a GT/X800.

I don't really play my games with AA/AF, I figure Nvidia will be good considering future doom 3 engine games (Quake 4)

This card will be great for HL2/CS:S.

Rest of my System:

A64 3500+ @ 2.4 ghz
MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum
1024 Ram
Riva TNT 2

ROFL!!!
I think SneakyStuff was being sarcastic.
As for your purchase, Smoke, I say get the GT if you can add ~60$ to your budget.
