There's an OEM X800 for $189 which is not too much more than the Leadtek 6600GT at $169 that I was planning to get. Will the X800 be any kind of significant boost?
EDIT - One thing I forgot to mention was this was a 128MB model of an X800 which is probably why it is a lot cheaper. Pretty much any and all benchmarks I've seen using an X800 were of the 256MB model which of course would likely give it advantages at higher resolutions, does this change any of your conclusions?
Also this is X800 Vanilla, not an XL so it has 300 MHz less mem speed and 4 less pipelines. Though from just a statistical point of view 392*12 = 4704 vs 500 * 8 = 4000 which is (not the correct, but right ratio of the) fill rate right? 700 * 256 = 179k vs 1000 * 128 = 128k. So all other things being equal its an 18% faster GPU and 40% more memory bandwidth.
Anyone know anything about the noise generated from the sapphire card?
