which video player software uses the least cpu?

i have some mpeg2 encoded 1080p and it stutters. which palyer uses the least cpu? also needs deinterlacer. WMP 10 and Realplayer flickers on my hdtv output. green screen, pciture, green screen, picture. Windvd makes it look good but it stutters horribly. 9800xt. amd64 2.4ghz, 1gb ram. xp sp2.

Also your comp isn't fast enough for a 1080p video ;( unless you get teh x1600+ then you can run H264 1080p video owithout a prob

so all of a sudden to watch high quality FMV i need a video card? I thought it was cpu dependant?

When you have a GPU that can accelerate movie playback, it becomes less CPU dependant.
The X1xxx cardds from ATi support H.264 acceleration.

Quite the contrary. GeForce6 and up as well as Radeon X8xx and up support MPEG2 acceleration, even if it's in high definition.
