1. US
2. UK
3. Japan
4. Russia
5. China

I'm going by each countries projection capabilities (ie maritime might)... Thus, perhaps why China would not be as strong. UK is always strong at sea, Japan has a well funded navy and better than Russia's.

Bull. Navy SEALS train SEALS. There may be instructors from other forces (foreign or other branch) for some specialized training, but thats it. Everybody does that.

You're grossly overgeneralizing.

Hahaha, China can't even hop the little puddle and project its power on Taiwan.
Chinese NAVY is not a BLUE WATER NAVY thus only good within their maritime border.
Oh and if you just look at NAVY India > China.

Well, every country on the planet (except the US of course) recognizes that the SAS is overall better at what they do than the SEALS are at what they do. OWNED!!!

Well thats pretty hard to determine other than
1- USA
2 or 3 - Russia/UK
4 - China
5 - France

Russia though having old, outdated technology is up there because of its sheer amount. If you tell me UK could win a war against Russia, I don't believe it. But Russia wouldn't be able to do much either soooo... toss up.

China is up there by sheer numbers also. Plus Europe is starting to sell them military technology...

France ahead of Japan. Japan has arms tecnhology, but is modern army is still untested, small, and not to mention forbidden from taking part in an offensive war. But then again, you cant puch much faith in France's army either.

UK is nothing without US support and since nukes
are not to be considered in this case I won't put UK anywhere near top 5.

Oh come on! Everybody that plays Age of Empires II knows that the top five is something like this:

1. Teutons
2. Spain
3. Turkey
4. Mongols
5. Persia

(actually I don't know the top 5. I just know that Teutonic Knights and the Spanish 2x firing rate upgrade were insane.)

Exactly. Each special forces branch of the military has their strong points. You'd have to break it down into categories: hostage rescue, weapons, stealth, versatility, demolitions, etc etc in order to even begin to debate who owns who. Even in that case it's all subjective.

If your talking about Quality there are different fighting forces that are much better than the USA quality wise. Marines go to train around the world with other armys all the time. There is a fighting force in Africa that is supposed to be the best trained force in the world. Then you also have the British Marines, etc.

You also have armys in places like somalia that grew up fighting. Years of a civil war you get pretty skilled with weapons and markmanship yada yada, but in no means do they have an organized technologically advanced army. They however may be better fighters.

You also have the North Koreans who are threatning because of their known nuclear tech. Their army has more people than ours and are just as well trained. If we ever had to go in there we would get our asses handed to us IMO.

But thats just me and the rumors going around.

Just threw in some other tidbits, im not gonna rank because obviously its been done to anyones opinion in this thread.

When the US went into Somalia, they didnt show many signs of being good fighters. There were a lot of them, but its not like they demonstrated any marksmanship or anything, just a willingness to continue an attack, no matter how many of them died. I would call that bravery and/or dedication, but I think the drugs that they were using had more to do with it.

The North Koreans... well, the best thing you can say about their army is that unlike the rest of the country, they are eating fairly regularly. But stack them head to head with a company of American infantry, and they're not going to match up well. Give that American company the standard amount of supporting arms that they could expect, and the NK's aren't even going to see daylight. They dont have the equipment, the training (not just training time, but quality), and once they are outside of the range of the artillery that is all aimed at Seoul right now, they dont have much in the way of supporting arms.

BTW, what is the name of: "There is a fighting force in Africa that is supposed to be the best trained force in the world"?

I do, however, agree with you that most of this is opinion. I just dont see the NK army or the Somali's the way you do.

This thread is discussing current military capability, not future theoretical political/military scenarios.
