The lowest one you can find, and OC it.
it all depends on your price range. these babies are not as cheap as T-Birds.

XP1600+ or 1700+ seems a good choice in terms of price vs. performance (O/Cing abilities).

There's a thread running right now about the abilities of the 1500+, which is the lowest XP. If you go all out and unlock the multipliers, you can get 1900+ perf out of it. I think at this point the yields of chips are good enough that the 1500+ will easily do 1900+ speeds.

i got a 1500, and it's running 1.6ghz stable. This puppy rocks!! =). 10 * 160, had to lower the ram timings to get above 150. But ya, i think i can go more, just might have to get better cooling.

go for a 1500 or 1600, and just oc hte hell out of it.

get a 1600+, it's just a lil' more than a 1500+ plus w/o unlockin' it you can get a bit more performance. but if you do unlock it and unleash the beast, make sure you get a good mobo that will let you adjust the multipliers very high. i think my Soyo Dragon will let me adjust it all the way to 14. and it'll let me adjust the FSB too. so get a good processor, unlock it, and get a good board, with some "supercooling" you might be able to get a 1600+ running at 1.75-1.8 Ghz. i know i can run stable at 1.66.

I got a 1700+ and overclocked it to 1.64 ghz with an alpha pal 8045. Now that I think about it I probably should have saved a few bucks and got a 1600+ since I couldn't unlock the chip I would have probably been able to get a higher fsb with the 1600+. Right now i'm stuck at 149 Mhz FSB.
