and you haven't run in a while, say two weeks, and you are trying to do two miles, why the hell does it hurt in the abdominal region? I dont get it.

Can anyone tell me what exactly is hurtin? Its the right side for me... maybe different for other people (my friends said they had the same problem when we were running for track team so I know I'm not crazy alone...maybe all of us) I'm pretty sure its not the spleen... After a couple of days of scheduled running its gone and seems to be dormant.. wierd.

Location of pain is on the right side (not extreme right), above the hip, below the ribcage. How do I stop it?

Sorry, I run 2-4 miles about every other day and never have had that problem...I just get cramps if I drink/eat too close to running, which is normal...

Runners' cramp eh?? I will try it the next time I run... but what exactly is there to cramp? I'm pretty sure its not the stomach because of multiple previous experiences with stomach cramps ::shudders:: and have learned from em.

Just saying I actually had it the first time I ran at football practice in the beginning of the summer, since I decided to quit running after an exhausting football/icehockey/basketball season.

I can understand if your quads and your calves are sore from the running... but the abdominal region usually isn't one that would get sore... unless you were doing some cross country running. Did you go up and down hills?

It may be because of your stride... perhaps you lunge your legs up higher and have a larger stride, thus working the lower abdominal region... it's not a bad thing... because you know that your lower abs are getting a workout.

The strain/pain/sore will go away once you continue your running - your body will get used to it... that's when you change your running program so that you won't plateau... good luck =)

i used to have the same problem except it was on my left side, right under my rib cage. It hurt like hell after I strted running 2 miles out of the blue 2 weeks ago but it doesnt hurt that much anymore. My friend said that the motion of your arms has a lot of to do with any pain you experience.
