OP: See if you can find a bottle of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye. It got top ratings from Jim Murray's Whisky bible.

Odds of finding any of the BTAC sitting on shelves at this point in the year are between extremely slim and none.

If you're looking to go the bourbon route, I highly recommend Blanton's. It runs ~$60 a bottle.

Not too pricey and just about the best bourbon to be had before hitting the elite/expensive territory (i.e. Pappy).

Btw, Costco is selling 1.75L nowadays for a little over $50....
