No, a Ridgeline won't climb rock walls or haul your herd of steer over a mountain like in all of the Chevy and Ford commercials. It will last 3 times as long and still haul over sized items.

If they weren't $30,000, I'd get one.

last 3 times as long?
LMAO.
ive seen many domestic trucks well over 200k and lots and lots in the mid 100's plowing, towing etc.

unless you have stats to back this claim up, ill have to assume you are just a hater of american trucks/ or a honbda fanboy

the ridgeline might last to 200k if you drive it like a civic.

It's a unibody. There isn't anything to attach a plow to.

well on otbs, you could fit at least 35-40 snow shovels in the bed.
or 10 snow shovels and a small snowblower.

Hmmm... What if we zipped tied those snow blowers to the front bumper? Instant snow plow!

Plus parts for Chevy and Ford trucks are dirt cheap. Have fun paying $300 for an alternator or a starter for your Ridgeline.

Don't mock the lockable beer cooler. Fill that thing with ice and brew, lock it up, drive to the game. Once it's empty, you pull the drain plug at the bottom.

I own one.

It's full time All Wheel Drive, with 70% at the front, 30% at the back by default. It will transfer power from front (up to 70% to the back if I remember correctly) to back in certain situations, like if you are accelerating hard for example. It's the same system as the Acura MDX (the previous model MDX, not the 2007).

It's been a great vehicle. Yes it's different from your traditional truck, and no you're probably not going to use it to haul 10,000 Lbs worth of bricks around (because we all do that on a regular basis anyway). I only wish it had the bluetooth hands free link system like some of the Acura models have...

It'd be the perfect truck for someone like me - someone who would just use it for trips to Home Depot to pick up stuff for the house. I considered buying an old F-150 for $600 for that purpose. But then I thought about it, and it makes no sense! I could just rent the truck at Home Depot for $20 each time I need to buy something big, and I'd save a ton of money. :Q So many people buy trucks and SUVs because they think they need it, when really if they thought it through they'd realize they don't actually need it. (I'm not talking about the people who buy trucks and SUVs just because they WANT one, I'm talking about the people who would otherwise buy a different vehicle if it weren't for their "need" which accounts for less than 1% of their use of the vehicle).

I can even fit a decent sized load of 2x4s in my Civic.

What if you're carrying a good 500 lbs. cargo in the bed and you really really want a beer, what then?

I think thats the only RWD that Honda makes.

Don't forget the NSX. Other than that I think the rest of Honda's cars are FWD or "4WD"

They don't make the NSX anymore.

it doesn't have the hauling capacity of a truck. it's unibody, so it can't haul. it has independent suspension in the back, so it can't be loaded up. it is very clear that honda never once loaded the thing up to drive it around.

not to mention that the 16/21 number the honda makes is the same as the 16/21 that a 5.3 liter 310 hp V8 silverado makes. so much for honda fuel economy.

I agree. The Corvette Z06 is actually comfortable and I can fit in it! Most Japanese cars are built for the 5'5" Japanese.....not for 6'3" Americans (like ME). I just do not fit in an s2000, as much as I have tried!

I doubt even a Honda is going to last 600,000 to 900,000 miles...

Or were you just pulling BS reliability information from your arse with regard to American trucks?

Thought so.

What do most people use their trucks for? Most of the truck owners I know, rarely actually use it as a truck.

Who says that you need to a "genuine" truck? If something does the job but is different, so what? It gets the job done. The Ridgeline is sweet. I've ridden in it and it feels extremely solid and quiet. Car and Driver did a 40,000 mile long term test of it and they love it.

Exactly.

Domestic pickups are pretty much clones of each other. Is that bad? Nah, its a proven design which works well. Doesn't mean everyone has to use the same design though.

I love that extra compartment in the bed. Sure, access is blocked when the bed is loaded, but again we're back to what you usually use it for. Can't pile bricks on it? Maybe you can't. Find me one that has collapsed.

Fuel economy is disappointing. Beyond that it looks like a handy vehicle.

Oh, and "real truck" guys...www.peterbilt.com. Ok then.
