Hmm, I was wondering. For those that been pulled over while using a radar detector, do you rip it off the window and try to hide it? If not, what is there you could say to the cop? Or maybe it's just a bad idea altogether to try and take it off, then him seeing you... haha.

If you get pulled over just turn it off. No big deal. I wouldn't leave it on. I use a cheap one and dunno if it's saved me any tickets. Since I do speed from time to time it's just nice to have something to combat going over the speed limit when your not paying attension to the signes.

Laser detectors are completely legal in every state when
used in automobiles or light trucks (under 10,000 lbs.).
Similarly, when used in automobiles or light trucks, radar
detectors are legal in almost every state. Exceptions are
Virginia and Washington, D.C., which have local regulations
restricting the use of radar receivers in any vehicle.
Concerning trucks over 10,000 lbs., the Federal Highway
Administration (FHwA) issued a regulation, eff e c t i v e
January, 1994 which prohibits radar and laser detector use
in these types of vehicles nationally.
Prior to the FHwA regulation, laws existed in the state of
New York restricting the use of radar detectors in trucks
over 18,000 lbs. and in Illinois in trucks over 26,000 lbs.

it's not a question of whether or not theyre legal. but how much more pissed a cop would be if i had one while getting pulled over

Sure, maybe all radar detectors aren't equal, but $40 sure as hell isn't equal to $300 either.

It would be nice if people would stop crapping this thread. It's about the same as if I were to post in every CRT hot deal thread that you're dumb to get the CRT because my 2001FP 20" LCD display is better and they're not equal displays. You know what? No sh!t!
