the whole thing reminds me of rapper feuds... in that they're totally fake and designed to increase publicity for all parties involved.

If BHO, rahm, and axelrod were smart  they'd put the shovel down already but alas, they are too blinded by their hate to see they are only hurting themselves with their little FOXNEWS tantrums.

Are you talking about the rapper feuds where guys wound up dead? I am not a fan and don't keep up with that crap but I'd say dead rappers would disagree about the fake-ness.

Yes, this is totally one-sided. Fox does not have an agenda and they do not throw tantrums at everything Obama says/does.

This is good news for Fox, the white house is too blinded by their anger to understand that they are shooting themselves in the foot over and over.

Every time they "slam" Fox, the Fox ratings go up even further. In addition, people get a little nervous when the gobment goes after any news outlet, no matter what their political agenda. When the government is able to silence opposition voices, no matter how idiotic, it's dangerous for us all.

Basically, these little white house tantrums give fox more power.

Of course they do, but that's their business. That's what they do to make money. Do you not see a difference between an administration and a news outlet?

I wonder why they made the decision to have White House Officials continue to appear on such an obviously biased news network that isn't really pushing news at all.

If I was ever invited on the show I'd probably decline, as it lacks any journalistic integrity.

I'm sure you're smarter than the Obama Administration.

no, I mean the contemporary rapper feuds.

although, the picture in my head of Obama, Biden, Rham, and Axelrod in a low rider doing a drive-by of Glen Beck's house is pretty funny.

I'm so glad this is where the Obama administration feels it needs to focus it's efforts and brain power. Frankly, nothing worse faces our country than Fox News.

Sure. Lets go through the logic here. The people who don't watch fox are not going to be somehow swayed by what the administration says about fox since they don't watch it anyway. The people who watch fox are most certainly not going to change their mind when the administration takes every opportunity to call them stupid and slam fox.

At the same time, every time the administration attacks a news organization like fox, it drives up their ratings, they pull in even more viewers with which to share their biased 'reporting'. In other words, for the administration, it's a lose lose proposition.

With all due respect, this looks like MSNBC inventing more controversy rather that the White House doing anything. I didn't watch the show, but based on Axelrod's quotes, it sounds like he was answering questions posed to him. If you read what he sid, he seems like he (and therefore the White House) are actually trying to stay out of it:

Still, Axelrod said administration officials would appear on the channel. He shrugged off News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch's remark to shareholders last Friday that since the White House began criticizing Fox News commentators their ratings have risen.

"You know, I'm not concerned. Mr. Murdoch has a talent for making money, and I understand that their programming is geared toward making money," Axelrod said. "The only argument Anita was making is that they're not really a news station. ... It's not just their commentators, but a lot of their news programming. It's really not news. It's pushing a point of view."
Sounds pretty benign to me. Their programming is geared to making money ... like almost every other business. Film at 11:00!

Basically, I think you are dreaming the dream that reverse psychology will work. Fox news is a disease that is sickening the minds of weak minded unanalytical Americans, like Nazi propaganda did, and needs to be snuffed out before the ovens get lit.

This is a silly issue to waste the government's time on. Revoke Fox New's press privileges and be done with the matter.

Except they aren't "focusing" their efforts on Fox as you well know. That allegation is just the usual empty partisan hackery from people who need to attack but can't find anything substantive to criticize. Carry on.

The only tool in here is the one you're self-pleasuring with over fox news about. Yah, when an administration wastes it's time with a right wing news network, I don't think it's the best use of that administration's time. Of course, you'd have to NOT be a braindead partisan hack to understand that perspective.

Oh for you personal attack on my other thread, I am not even going to address that...
Looks like you just did. Boy you are dumb as they get. Making Dave look smart, that's not easy.

 Yeah, that's what we want, we want our government to determine who can have "press priviliges" and who can't. I'm sure that would do wonders for democracy. Moron.

ORly? You would know, you're an expert...

"White House communications director Anita Dunn recently told Time magazine that she thinks the channel offers "opinion journalism masquerading as news," and kept up the criticism on CNN's Reliable Sources Sunday and in The New York Times Monday."

"A lot of their news programming, it's really not news. It's pushing a point of view," senior adviser David Axelrod said on ABC's "This Week."

"The way we -- the president looks at it and we look at it, is, it is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective," White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel added on CNN's "State of the Union."

Or are you saying the OP is a liar and the MSNBC article is a falsehood?

Dissension is still allowed in this country - so far. People have relied on the news media since its inception to report what they know, see and hear. What I learned in the past is that if I don't agree with what is being said, I just turn to another channel.

If you're a fan of what has been in the past termed the mainstream media, that's your choice. But FOX is the most watched network. What argument can one make against that? That the majority of Americans are mindless sheep? That's the typical argument and it just doesn't hold water. But if you want to think that the majority of people in this country are ignorant because they don't share your views well, that's pretty telling in and of itself.

If you, the left, the White House, whomever wants to see FOX silenced - keep pushing for it. But I would ask you to make certain that this is what you truly want. There are other countries in this world of ours that censor the media. There have been many in the past that did so. The problem with this is, where do you stop? Any network out there that thinks this will stop with FOX had better think this through very carefully. We may very well be at a crossroads right now. This could tip this way or that. If FOX is censored or shut down, who will follow? How long before print media is censored? Before blogs are shut down? How long before posting a viewpoint that goes against the government here at these forums is not tolerated? Extrapolate this out to it's logical conclusion. Make sure you do before you make that commitment.

Right now, this is nothing but school yard level politics with the kids making the rules. Little Michael says little Johnny said bad things about him. Little Michael gets to take care of the discipline himself. More than likely when Michael grows up, he'd realize just how inconsequential it was that Johnny said a disparaging word against him.

This administration can either grow up and learn to turn the other cheek, or they can continue down this path. This may not turn out the way the White House wants it to. You can look at that statement from whatever perspective you want.
