Why do you care that Gallup did a survey/study?
It just seems to be a step in the wrong direction. If you accept them then we don't need to study why they are the way they are.

You don't understand evolution. From an evolutionary perspective being gay is a very serious disability.
How do you think this data should affect public/government policy?
Come on, don't hide under subtle implications and innuendo. Say right out what you think how this data should be used.
It seems like there would be more white gay people. Maybe this has something to do whith the kind of people we send to prison. i.e. people in an all male prison may turn to being gay. Or maybe it is because there are a lot of poor black people who live in large metropolitan areas. Who knows?
That's a very surprising poll. I would have expected blacks to have the lowest numbers, with whites the highest. That is of course based on personal experience, and according to several friends, I'm an "idiot" when it comes to determining someones sexuality.
There are more white gay people, because whites are the majority. But from a per capita sense, blacks have the highest rate of homosexuality.
Also, the study suggested higher rates of homosexuality for Hispanics and Asians as well, so it's not just blacks.
Here's an interesting study conducted by Gallup that came out a few months ago. Must have slipped under zsdersw's radar, as he usually posts this kind of thing:
Source
A few things.. This study, among many others, goes to show that the 10% figure the gay community has been touting for years was highly exaggerated. I only see ignorant people claiming 10% are gay these days, so I suppose it's finally starting to sink in.
Secondly, I have a sneaking suspicion that the higher rate for minorities could have something to do with Vitamin D production. Vitamin D deficiency is extremely high among African Americans (as well as many other dark skinned people living in North America), and has been found to be extremely important for developing fetuses. It's also been linked to all sorts of birth defects; particularly of the brain.. It's possible that a greater risk of the fetus becoming gay or bisexual could be one of the side effects of Vitamin D deficiency in the mother.
Thirdly, the inflated level of young women between the ages of 18-29 identifying as LGBT can be explained by popular culture I'm certain. Every other study I've seen claims higher rates of homosexuality in men than in women to the tune of 3:1.
Also, the notion that gays are better educated and wealthier than their straight counterparts appears to be untrue..

Soy makes you gay. Want to know what they make formula out of?
Want to know who is more likely to use formula?
This also explains why black people are more likely to commit crimes. Suppressing their homosexual urges causes them to act out by committing crimes.
Then when they go to prison they are able to act out their homosexual fantasies in a socially acceptable manner.
Given that surveys can be manipulated by the surveyor/surveyee, I don't put much stock in this one or in other surveys in which I've participated. That being said:
1) I've only heard the 10% figure from groups/individuals who are anti-gay. anti-SSM, or shit disturbers. I'm not saying that you are a member of any of those groups.
2)Vitamin D deficiency affects those people you listed and also covers anyone who doesn't get enough sun. Vitamin D can be supplanted with pills but getting it via "suntime" is most likely better in the long run
3) Possibly; we'll keep an eye on any developments . If it holds that percentage for years/decades, it might be more than culture or fad
4) I would say it's in the same range as other groups surveyed.
A few problems with this proposition:
1) It doesn't explain gay women, since gay women typically have higher levels of testosterone than heterosexual women, and soy supposedly lowers testosterone levels.
2) Homosexuality is partially genetic, as many studies have shown and soy does not affect gene expression unlike Vitamin D. Also, the physical effects of homosexuality (such as changes in the fundamental brain structure) indicate that the changes must have occurred in the prenatal phase, and not after birth.
3) Soy consumption is a relatively new phenomenon in the Western hemisphere, yet homosexuality has been with humans since the dawn of civilization.
10% of people told researcher Kinsey that they had thought about having intercourse with somebody of the same sex.
I picture someone getting a random call.LOL... like these surveys are even accurate.
Thinking something one time doesn't make you gay.10% of people told researcher Kinsey that they had thought about having intercourse with somebody of the same sex.
im white and im not gay. yep this all checks out.
