I was just at a beach in Busan, South Korea. The beach goers in Korea try to avoid the sun at all cost. I think it's hilarious. It's a wall of umbrellas! Why do they do this? It's because they prize white skin.

When I was in Thailand the only people that I saw sunbathing were old crusty Brits and Germans. The Thais avoid the sun like the plague.

That's true. I was really struck by how white the celebrities look in Asia. Then I found out that they use whitening cream to achieve a whiter look.

I was on a school field trip last week and every Korean teacher was hiding under a tree. They wanted to avoid the sun at all cost.

I don't get this mentality any more. Yeah it was this way in the US 150 years ago, but today being tan = you're wealthy enough to have enough leisure time for outdoor activities.

I remember back in college seeing asian girls walking around with umbrellas on a beautiful day. Mind was blown. I have light skin but I sure as hell am not getting tanned or sun damage spending 3 minutes walking outside from one building to another.
