WHITER TEETH? Do those whitening strips work? and everything about dental hygiene

has anyone ever tried those whitening strips. u can buy them at your grocery store, u stick them on the front of your teeth and after your teeth gets soaked in chemicals for about 2 weeks your teeth get whiter. Any possible harmful effects to the teeth and gums? im thinking about tryin it... let me know. reply or PM thx.

oh yeah i forgot!
what about those electronic sonicare toothbrushes? are they worth the money? are the rough on your gums? how much cleaner do your teeth feel or get?

I haven't used them, but everything I've heard about the Crest Whitening strips says yes, they work wonders.

A friend used them and said she saw results in 3 days - I haven't seen her yet, so I can't confirm, but she's happy.

Personally, I'd just pay to have it done professionally. I have to live with my teeth for a long time, I'd rather pay the money to have it done right.

Consumer products that whiten teeth take longer to see an effect than the professional process. I read somewhere that whitening toothpaste may take up to a year of usage before you can see a difference, the whitening strips will definitely work, it's just a matter of how long you'd have to use them before you will see an effect.

I think my mom has the strips... but so far she is not satisfied w/ them, and it has been a few months...

ViperGTS is right, if you have the money and want the best results... go get a professional to do it

my dentist told me NOT to use whitening toothpaste anymore. last year i went for a routine checkup, and he noticed how 'smooth' my teeth were. He asked if i've been using whitening toothpaste.. i said yes.. for a while now.. Then he said that the whitenint toothpaste is BAD for my teeth because it effectively breaks down the enamel in your tooth, and that is why my teeth are so smooth.. the whitening chemcals were wearing down on my teeth.. he told me never to use whitening stuff again and just get my teeth bleached professionally. but im still curious about whitening strips.

btw, he also said use a soft brush and brush LIGHTLY (just scrape the teeth with the bristles), he noticed that i my gums were receding, due to brushing too hard. sigh.. hopefully ill have some teeth left when im old.

You are way, way, way better off having it done professionally for one simple reason: cost/benefit.


To make the mold, you pay about $300. But after that, each subsequent bleaching is about $10 or so for the chemicals. Your teeth aren't damaged, and the long-term benefits are clearly there.
