LOL!! That's cool!!
Well, don't be surprised by what he might find. Just go in with an open mind & let 'em do their thing. Especially since this is your first time.........they'll wanna take a bunch of X rays which will look inside of you teeth, gums and bone. They'll wanna see how all the roots are sitting and where (if any) the decay might be. Decay can get directionally agressive and sometimes it can be isolated to one spot. A lot depends on genetics and how your system handles enamel integrity.
They'll definitely want to do at least a regular cleaning & quite probably a "deep cleaning". Don't be afraid of it, you'll be numb for the procedure & gums heal quickly. And at 18 you'll be up & bouncin' around within a couple hours of leavin' the dentist's office.
As a tip........(if they offer it).......go for the nitrous oxide gas. It's a hoot, it's relaxing & you won't care what the heck they're doin' to you once you're up to snuff on the N.O. But even if they don't, no biggie. Once you're numb you can't feel a thing anyway & if you do, you just let 'em know & they'll numb you up more.
Plus, now you'll have a baseline for your dentist to help you in the future. X-rays will tell the dentist a lot so you'll both be more informed about your mouth!
Have fun!
