Understood, but not agreed.
Can we frankly discuss why racism is OK for others, but not for whitey?

this really doesn't make sense since you live in America where almost every city populated by 'whites'. now if you live in china, or maybe 20 years from now when Hispanics took over... maybe..
i'm using the BET argument. (TM)
So...frankly, I am posting straight frank (please, no penis jokes).
Where should I go to embrace and enjoy my whitey culture?
Do people not see this? I post "my whitey culture" with tongue firmly planted in check. But other "cultures" do not have tongue planted in cheek. They're serious. That is cause for concern.
Frankly/Honestly, why can one's "culture" be used to accuse "racism" in one direction and not the other?
-edit-
piss-poor grammar hopefully corrected.

Person of "non-white" race wants to hang out with others of same race...that's ok, they're embracing their culture, etc
Person of "white" race wants to hang out with others of same race...how dare you not be diverse! what's wrong with you? Don't you have enough of America already?
Hipocrites at their finest is what he's getting at, and he has a point.

No, it's not really like that at all.
It's really more like this:
1) A non-white sits at a table surrounded by whites. He would probably be happier if he weren't the only non-white around. He wishes there were more non-whites at the table -- especially someone of his same cultural background so he could talk about the best place to get good dim sum.
2) There is a table full of whites. A black person enters and sits at the table. A bunch of whites decides that the place is getting a little too dark and decides to leave.
The point is that the non-white person doesn't want to live in an place with only non-whites. He just wishes he weren't the only non-white around so he would fit in better and wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb.
The point is that most whites live in a place where they are already a majority so it seems like whites leave if even one non-white is in the area. But now you get all upset because an asian would like to be in a place where he doesn't feel he is the only non-white in the area.

no, you are CLEARLY still missing the point.
spidey did not deny that racism exists in white people. Obviously, it does. Nor am I saying that a minority wanting to be around people of their culture is a bad thing. What he's pointing out that there are things a white person can do, and be proclaimed a racist, whereas there are similar things a minority can do, and its perfectly fine. What if it WERE flipped...what if it were a white person living in an all-black community, and that white person complained about it, and wanted to be around other whites? He'd be proclaimed a racist for sure. That's the point of this thread, at least the way I see it.
I hate double standards in ANY venue, not just referring to racism.
