I'm twenty years old and working 60% of the time at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Computer Systems Engineer. I also own my own business, PGM Solutions, which builds computers and networks for small to large companies and even the government. I also (somehow) manage to go to school at U.C. Berkeley (2nd year student) and I am studying Information Management Technology.

I'm 32, currently writing my dissertation for a Ph.D. in astrophysics at MSU. I do scientific programming on massively parallel platforms (numerical simulations of the surface of the Sun). In other words, soon to be unemployed...

But I wrote my first program on punch cards! :Q
And I once choked out a computer at NCSA by submitting a job that used over 8GB of memory...

Once, I was in the:
Boys Scout, Army (7yrs in an Infantry unit), went to two yrs college for three yrs (Liberal Arts major) but dropped out due to boredom, became over the road truck driver/owner operator (last time I was leased onto Prime Inc in Springfield, MO.), came back to NYC and went into import/export/manufactureing of sports head wear (family run business), then network admin (MCSE/MCP+I, A+). Now a professional (web)surfing, pr0n munching, "upgrade" crunching (almost everyone in the family received a left over PC from past upgrades), want to be video editing, practically broke and a recent father of one. Ain't that a trip.

I know this thread is getting old, but then, so am I . I am the assistant manager of a Title Insurance office, former banker. Graduated a long time ago from Eastern Washington University (Magna Cum Laude, big deal ) Started with my first PC back in September of 95 and didn't know the difference between a CD rom disk and a floppy disk. With the patient help of my friend Roy (now a programmer for Siemens) and countless hours of reading and monitoring forums like this, I now know the difference between disks, but even successfully built my last PC with only one short phone call to my friend! I now am trying to maintain my little home network of 3 systems (all home built) for my wife and 3 sons ages 14, 11 and 9. My 11 year old is the resident software expert and is still trying to "download the world". (Come on Dad, how bad can a little virus or two or twenty be?) As to age, I am about to turn 46, but it is a "young" 46. I only feel old after coaching the younger boys' basketball teams, those full court scrimmages with 11 and 12 year olds are murder!!
