I'm 33, been around the block a few times. Got a couple pieces of paper from several different schools. (all in the U.S.)

I started out with computers in the 70's with a TRaSh 80. Mostly as a hobby. I've been in various fields from electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration. (engineering) As my name says, I used to keep sharks as pets too. I just recently left a government job to start consulting and support (predominately Windows and network hardware) for small companies. Self employment is the only way to go. The 9to5 groove will burn you out and you'll never get rich working for somone else!

Cheers!

I'm from the UK (Heck, Like you couldn't tell from my username!)

Anyway despite a talent for stating the obvious, I am 18 and completed my A-level Exams last year in Information Technology, Englsh and History. I hold an advanced windows certificate as well as Microsoft Office Advanced Certification (not the official Microsoft one, but a course developed my my college).

I am currently in my First Year at a top #3 ranked Technology University, studying for a BSc (Hons)in Information System Engineering.

This course covers many computing specialisms, such as AI, Progamming in C and JAVA, Project Management, Data Structures and Alorithms, Discreet Mathematics, Software Engineering and other complex and fancy sounding things that I'm not sure what they are, until I get to studying them!

I would like to graduate and become an IT project manger eventually (That's were the money is).

If anyone wants know more please feel free to PM me.

Take care,
UKspace

I'm new to Anandtech. I too got hooked on this site when I started building my computer. Bad thing is it takes up more time than I can afford. Oh well!

Anyways, I'm in Medical School at Wayne State and outside of my computer and my girlfriend and school I have no life. I'm going to be in medical training for at least the next 8 years. Whoohoo! Got an exam tomorrow so goto jet.

I'm a Police Officer at a local community college. I've done all the criminal justice class they offer, now I'm starting on the computer ones as a back up career. We have a Cisco Academy and some MCSE programs, I'm gonna take'em all. Computers have been a hobby/interest of mine since 92. Been with Anandtech for a long time, great board.

Someone want to make a poll instead. Would be a lot easier to read. Anyway, I'm a final Computer Science student at Southampton University. I build a lot of systems and have decided to get a job in something related to that rather than programming which can get boring after a few weeks on a big project.

<< I'm just a regular high school student. Don't have the money for any certifications (although I would like get CCNA, MCSE and A+). I worked 5 months for a company called metex as an assitant net admin (coop) and I liked it. >>

Well, my friend, I do not have any specific training either, and the little education i have is not worth one week of experience...

Bravo, hey, ya want the bucks, Cisco is the way to go. MS isn't bad, but mcse's are a dime a dozen. Don't get me started on Nortel. Sorry, I am a Cisco man. And they call MS a monopoly. Anywho...

Jack of all trades. Reporter, editor, secretary, corporate exec., and investor. Got much of my computer experience ordering millions of dollars in computer parts for a provincial government ministry (that was fun). Now, I stay at home with my five year old son and play the stock market , frag bad guys in Quake III and bitch about Antec :disgust:

I've been around computers since 1983, bought my first computer in 1985 (Tandy Model 100), got my first internet account in 1992. Build my own system (and a few for other people) and do a bit of consulting when asked.

Oh yeah, and I live on an Island in the pacific.

I just turned 17. Still at high school as a junior. Always have been involved in computers and gaming in some shape or form. Currently taking a web page class which is worthless to me, since I already know everything being taught (Wish they'd teach Java, Flash, Perl, etc..) and taking a A+ Cert. class that doesn't do much. Plan on taking some networking classes over the summer and get a job. :\
